CBBT tunnels

Is it possible to see both ends of the tunnels on the CBBT? Somewhat claustrophic.

No, the tunnels are each a mile long -- http://www.cbbt.com/about-us/facts/

No the tunnels have a down hill up hill form to them so you can only see one entrance at a time.

There is a light at the end of the tunnel, so to speak. Driver assistance is available for those who have difficulty crossing. So, don't worry, you're not alone :)

From the CBBT website:

"Does the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel offer assistance to customers who have a phobia of driving across the facility?

The Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel District offers a driver’s assistance program. The Police Department arranges for an employee to drive a customer’s personal vehicle across the Bridge-Tunnel when a customer has a phobia of heights, bridges, tunnels, etc. This service is provided to pre-empt an unsafe customer incident from occurring due to any phobia which may present itself when driving across the facility.

This service is offered to customers traveling in either an automobile, van, SUV, or pickup truck at no additional cost to the customer. Customers must make arrangements in advance for this service. The District utilizes personnel who have other specific duties to perform.

These drive-overs now occur at specific times each day – 6:30 a.m., 2:30 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. Delays for this service can be expected depending on the day of the week, the calendar season and potential events occuring on the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel.

Please contact the Police Department at (757) 331.2960 to arrange for an escort."
