Nihi Kai 202/400

Just wondering if you great group of people had some insight or have stayed in either of these units recently.

I have googled, searched the boards... you name it!

We love Nihi Kai and have stayed here many times (unit 511, 203 and the 800 block).

Unit 202 - style is island casual so different than 400. We the know the view is great and overlooks pool. The most recent review is ...well...not great at all and I know you can't always believe what you read. Just hoping to find maybe someone else who has recently stayed in this unit...

Unit 400 - Once again style is a nicer. I believe the view is still pretty good (not that there's a bad view). End unit. Our only concern is last year there was a problem with a sewer smell and we heard some people complain from the 400 block. Apparently this issue was getting fixed... not sure if anyone has recently stayed in the 400 block or notices this now?

We love the staff and had no issues in past visits... or the staff were very helpful and issues were fixed immediately.

Loved the pool for our little one, but next year there will be 2 little ones so we are hoping to have a 2 bedroom. We love that the pool is heated! :)

Are there any other comparable condos at Nihi Kai you'd recommend?

Is there another condo complex you'd recommend? I've been searching the boards but nothing we feel really compares. Not that they aren't great places too!!

I know I've heard from other travellers they say the pool is "heated" at other complexes, but not as nice as Nihi Kai... don't know if this is true?

Thanks for taking the time and any help is always and greatly appreciated!

Not exactly sure of your question. We stay in Nihi Kai all of the time. We mostly stay in Building 8 (we like the views and the cross breezes) but we did stay in #200 in 2010 (loved the proximity to the pool, etc.). My husband stayed in #400 a couple of years ago with his brother and it was great. He did not mention sewer smells but I have smelled it from time to time down by the parking lot in front of Building 4. The pool at Nihi Kai is definitely heated and the views are great. I think my only concern personally about #400 and #202 is the master bedroom is facing the walkway and there is a lack of privacy at times with people walking past. #202 is not an end unit so it will not have as much space as #400, or other end units Those walkways by the pool do get a decent amount of foot traffic. The pool closes promptly at 8:00 p.m. so you will not experience any noise issues.

Also check out Poipu Kapili. They are nice and large and friends of mine stayed there recently with 2 toddlers and they loved it.

Yes, Nihi Kai had issues with the septic system emitting smells. It was an on/off problem, sometimes noticeable, most of the time not. After much investigation and money spent on specialists to find the cause of the problem it seems that the H.O. Board , along with engineers, have been able to rectify this problem.

Thank you!

I know it was kind of broad ... more so I was curious if anyone had been in 202 recently, but it's all good. Might just try a unit we have already stayed in.

We've stayed in 400 twice and loved it. Great location, view, and upgrades to kitchen and baths. I highly recommend it!
