Kiahuna fan looking for Oahu recommendation

I am looking for suggestions for accommodation in Oahu. We will be at Kiahuna (again - hurray) for the last 2 weeks of March and then will be heading to Oahu for 3 or 4 nights prior to flying home. We want to see the sights in Oahu, Pearl Harbor etc. including Waikiki (just for old times' sake as my memories are of older Poipu & Kauai but my wife's are of older Honolulu) but not keen on staying in a high rise tower in Waikiki.

So I suppose I am looking for recommendations (from people that understand why Poipu is the best place!) for where to stay in Honolulu/Oahu for a few days of sightseeing and reminiscing before we head home. Thanks!

Aloha,

Most lodging on O'ahu is in Waikiki.

Do you prefer a condo or a hotel for your stay on O'ahu?

Come on over to the O'ahu forum if you'd like!

We are probably good with either, short stay so not as concerned with cooking etc. Thanks!

" but my wife's are of older Honolulu) but not keen on staying in a high rise tower in Waikiki."

Given your wife's preference for a taste of old school Honolulu, a low rise property, and your budget, I'd stay at The Breakers in a heartbeat!

Have a look..............

I don't think anything in Waikiki is going to compare to Kiahuna. Nothing is that spread out, low rise and a direct oceanfront condo property. Take a look at Waikiki Shore though. Older condo building right on Waikiki Beach, just the other side of Hale Koa and DeRussy Park. Castle has units there as they do at Kiahuna.

Thanks! I've emailed the Breakers and will look at Waikiki Shores, but happy for more suggestions! Cheers ( and Mahalo!).

If you had a bit longer on O‘ahu, I'd suggest a few nights in Waikiki and then a few more on the North Shore which would give you more of a Kiahuna feeling. Turtle Bay is ocean-front, larger, hotel & condos, but spread out. For a smaller feeling, Ke Iki Beach Bungalows.

Planning is always half the fun!

I had that thought, too, 3 chis.

Poipufan, if the Breakers doesn't work out, and you want to be at the 'end' of Waikiki, you could see if the New Otani Kaimana might suit.
