First time in San Diego

Hi,

Staying at the Bahia resort in Feb 19. Little confused over the public transport. How do we get from the hotel to places like the zoo, sea world and

Gaslamp area please?

Also, is it worth buying the go cards/passes?

Any advice welcomed. Thanks guys!

happyhopper2017, welcome to the forums.

Bring a smartphone and use Lyft or Uber.

The Bahia is not the best place to stay for using public transit as you will be on buses from there. Buses take longer than cars because they make stops. Are you a couple or a family with children? How old are your children?? I ask because if they are under 8 then you cannot use taxis or Uber/Lyft unless you drag around car seats.

Our bus/transit system is attached to Google.

Put your hotel into Google and click on the map that will appear.

Use the Get Directions function to go from the Bahia to zoo /Sea world etc.

Click on the bus icon to see available bus routes and times.

Thanks have looked at Uber. Seems way quicker than buses and trams. More expensive though that a the only downside.

Thanks. We dont have children so taxis seem like the best option. I didn't think zoo and sealife were that far away, but says it takes an hour when I checked on sd commute website? Still looking forward to visiting this great place!

Yes, it's pretty hard to get from the Bahia to the zoo by bus. It's 20 minutes by car, but about 3x that by bus. You will save yourself a lot of time and frustration if you use Uber or Lyft. They are typically much cheaper than taxis.

<<but says it takes an hour when I checked on sd commute website?>>

It depends on what time of the day you go to the zoo. Right now at 5 PM on Sunday it takes 14 minutes from the Bahia. Weekdays in the morning it should not take more than 20 minutes as you will be going against traffic.

The bus can take an hour.

A car you call on your smart phone like uber or lyft will take 15-20 min.

Taxis will be more expensive but you do need an app on your phone with a credit card attached to use uber/lyft.

I think the OP meant he checked the public bus options and it was an hour, which is about right.

Uber and Lyft will be a lot cheaper than a taxi.
