There is no real "China town" in San Diego.

There are many other things to see/do here.

Nope. There isn't a China town here but if you're looking for restaurants there are a TON of Korean and Chinese restaurants in Kearny Mesa.

There is a Chinatown in Los Angeles, are you going to LA?

Actually, there kind of is a Chinatown, down 3d Street from Horton Plaza. Google street view the San Diego Chinese Historical Museum, at 404 Third Avenue San Diego, CA 92101. This is apparently where San Diego's turn of the century Chinatown was. The SD Chinese Center is also there. Just two blocks over on 5th St is the Gaslamp Quarter.

There are some good Chinese restaurants in San Diego, if that is what you are interested in. Not the chop-suey stuff. They are clustered along Convoy Street, between Balboa Ave and Clairemont Mesa Blvd. Such as China Max (Cantonese, dim sum).

Technically, there is a Chinatown but on a historical level. There aren't a cluster of Chinese restaurants. There's a museum and it is historic now with some bldgs in the Chinese style. But that's all.

If you are looking for a cluster of Chinese restaurants, shops, etc. (San Fran, NYC, etc.) then, as been said, no there is no Chinatown..

It isn't called "Chinatown", but Kearny Mesa is the heart of San Diego's Asian community. It is full of not just good Chinese restaurants, but some great Japanese, Korean, Vietnamese and Thai as well.

Convoy St is the main area, but there are good restaurants on the side streets as well.

City Heights is the main home of San Diego's Vietnamese community.
