Grand Canyon & Yellowstone Park

Hi, TA Members,

We plan to visit Grand Canyon & Yellowstone Park and have following questions:

1) We are a bit confusing after reading the forum. Is the Grand Canyon part of the Yellowstone Park?

2) Can we join local tour from San Francisco ? Or we should departure from other cities?

Look forward to receiving your advise.

Thanks.

No. They are two separate destinations that are about 12 hour driving time apart. What may be confusing you is there is a large canyon in Yellowstone National Park that's called Grand Canyon of Yellowstone.

Yellowstone National Park is not generally combined with a visit to the Grand Canyon because of the vast distance between them. It can be done if you have sufficient time (about 3 weeks), and don't mind doing a lot of driving. There are several worthwhile points of interest between Grand Canyon NP and Yellowstone. If you don't want to drive between them, then you could fly to nearby airports.

When are you planning on traveling?

The best way to see either park us to fly in to a large nearby city, rent a car and drive yourself.

1) Grand Canyon National Park and Yellowstone National Park are not the same thing. They are 800++ miles apart!

2) I just did a 1 minute google search to see bus tours departing from SF to Yosemite National Park (a great park to visit from SF on your own), Las Vegas, Grand Canyon South Rim (they also had an option for the Skywalk but most here say to skip it.).

Perhaps a look at a map of the western USA would be helpful to you to narrow your desires.. Each national park has their own website with much information on things to do, lodging, dining, transportation, etc.. A good resource for sure.

The Grand Canyon is its own National Park -- "Grand Canyon National Park" -- and it is located in the state of Arizona.

Yellowstone National Park is located in the state of Wyoming.

San Francisco is located in the state of California.

None are "local" to each other.

It will take two days to drive from the Grand Canyon National Park to Yellowstone or Yosemite. These are entirely separate vacations.
