La Colle sur Loup is a short distance below St-Paul-de-Vence, where there is regular bus service. It's a nice little town, but the last time we stayed near St-Paul and wanted a place to eat in La Colle there wasn't much available. But if you're looking for a rental, that would not be a problem for you. The drive from La Colle down to the coast takes about 15 minutes; don't know about the bus, but it you take one to Cagnes-sur-Mer you can take the train to Nice, Cannes, Antibes, and Monaco.
If you want to stay near La Colle, I highly recommend Le Hameau, a charming small inn set in a citrus orchard. The rooms are all different, the horizon pool has views out to the Mediterranean, and there's gated parking at night.
Thanks for the quick responses. We like staying in small towns and villages. We will have a car but have heard from many sources that we should not take it close to Cote d'Azur. With that in mind, is St-Paul-De-Vence the best choice for a base, more convenient than La Colle sur Loup because of bus/train access?
Thank you. This is very helpful.
St Paul is massively touristed during the day but regains its unique magic as the sun sets. When planning trips by bus be aware that most services finish around 8 PM.
