3 nts NEXT wk in Santa Fe: vegetarian food & must-see places

Hi Everyone! Thanks to frequent flyer miles, my husband and I are celebrating our 18th wedding anniversary and taking our first trip EVER without out three kids! I'm a vegetarian; he is not. We love hiking, biking, photography. We don't like shopping or getting too dressed up on vacation. Your ideas please on great places to stay, eat, visit and get exercise would be GREATLY appreciated. Thank you in advance!! Andrea

New Mexico has been a little slow to catch on to vegetarian restaurants, but does have a few, as well as markets that have vegetarian offerings.

Annapurna's (locations also in Albuquerque), and the Blue Corn Cafe are highly rated. There are more than a few Santa Fe restaurants who offer "something" vegetarian on their menus. Cheese enchiladas, with rice and beans would be a good choice, unless you also do not eat dairy.

Our weather is improving...light showers in the afternoons...cooler temperatures...and no smoke!

I would recommend you take the trolley tour from the plaza to touch on the major sites in Santa Fe, and then return to your favorites for closer inspection. The primary tourism areas are the downtown historic district surrounding the historic plaza, and Governor's Palace; and Museum Hill in SE Santa Fe. Enjoy!

Santa Fe has plenty of vegetarian options. Even at Mexican restaurants. Ask if their refried beans are vegetarian or cooked in lard.

Check menus at www.santafelunch.com . Plenty of sightseeing options. www.santafe.org . Check that link for lodging ideas as well. Do you want hotel, b&b, casita, etc?

I have to second vinaigrette, we had a great lunch there. Also add Real Food Nation to the list, they're out by Eldorado but worth the trip, be sure to have some ice cream.
