Other than Mansions, what else is there to do in Newport?

Hi! Will be visiting Newport June 2-4. Can you tell me what else there is to do in Newport other than the Mansions (seen them already)? Thanks for any help you can offer :-)

June is a great time to visit. Not very crowded yet and we tend to have warmer weather. Walk Cliff Walk. Take a sail on the vessel of your choice. Meander the wharves and Thames St, shop and dine. Walk the Colonial neighborhoods that border Thames. Take a day trip to Little Compton, Jamestown, or Providence. In fact, I'd strongly suggest Jamestown, with a visit to Fort Wethersfield and Beavertail State Park. Make sure you walk along the tops of the cliffs in Wethersfield. They have the best view in RI. Tour a vineyard. Newport Vineyard has recently renovated it's winery, but Sakonnet Vineyard in Little Compton is great. Delicious and beautiful.

Did you drive Ocean Drive the first time? If not make it your top priority.

On Ocean Drive.....visit Fort Adams, tour the little sailing museum. Take a picnic lunch up and behind the Eisenhower House....some of the best views in Newport are here.

Kite sailing on Ocean Drive. Go have a drink on the lawn at Castle Hill.......views to die for. Or have lunch or dinner there. Summertime clam bakes on the lawn at Castle Hill if you are there on a Wednesday, I believe.

Go shopping at J. H Breakell for locally made jewelry (on Spring Street).

Go for breakfast at Belle's in the Newport Shipyard and sit next to the boats none of us can afford!

Go for lunch at Marina Cafe on Goat Island and enjoy very different views of the harbor...or drinks later over at the Hyatt's outdoor bar...also great views.

There are evening lobster dinners once a week followed by a 2 hour sail on the Adarondack over on Goat Island...this is fun!

Personally, I can spend a few hours on Second Beach in Middletown without any problem!!! Have fun
