Well, I was hoping to be able to pull up a list of Guy Fieri's "diner" visits on Oahu ... but I don't think that you can do that on-line. Shame.

One place that he did visit that is quite popular - and has expanded since his visit - Is Nico's Pier 38. http://www.nicospier38.com/ It's not a traditional "diner" in classic American terms - but I think you would like it.

Fieri also visited Hank's Haute Dogs. http://hankshautedogs.com/ No ambiance, but good food and fun.

Some places will have "diner" in their name, like Big City Diner in Honolulu. I like their breakfast much better than lunch ... or dinner. http://bigcitydinerhawaii.com/

But "diner" isn't really a very specific term - as I consider the closest thing to be a coffee shop like Zippy's or Dennys.

You mean like a Seinfeld style diner? What tv show(s)? It might help us direct you to the right style of place. ;)

I know a lot of the Breaking Bad diner scenes were filmed in a Dennys.

Cheesecake Factory, Denny's, Ihop - is that what you mean? They are all there in Waikiki. Bubba Gumps is at Ala Mona, and i am sure there are lots more.

- A small, usually inexpensive restaurant with a long counter and booths and housed in a building designed to resemble a dining car.

- A restaurant usually resembling a dining car in shape

- A railroad dining car; a restaurant built like such a car; a small, informal, and usually inexpensive restaurant.

I pulled up three definitions of "diner" above. Traditionally, diners are small and cheap - owned by a local individual. Wouldn't be a chain, by any stretch. Speaking practically though, any of those mentioned above would fit the profile except Bubba Gump and Cheesecake Factory.

(My gramma owned and operated a diner in an old railroad car in Southern CA long before I was born.)

Cheesecake Factory and Bubba Gumps aren't diners. Zippys, Wailana Coffee House and Big City Diner is what you are looking for.

Rock Island Cafe at Kings Village.

"Step back to a time when Elvis was King, Marilyn was Queen and they both drank Coca-Cola."

Just remembered this place. They wouldn't let us take photos inside.

When I think of a diner, I always think first of Seinfeld, because they spent so much time sitting in that diner.

Diners have appeared in a lot of shows over time. ER had that Doc Magoos diner across the road from the hospital. There are two fairly iconic diner scenes on Breaking Bad - the one at the start of Season 5, where Walt makes 52 in the bacon, And the one at the start of Season 5, where Walt makes 52 in the bacon, both of these were at Denny - one in Season 4 with Walt and Jesse in matching Kenny Rogers T-shirts and khakis. Both of these were at Dennys.
