We ditched Albuquerque still have questions!

So we ditched the YNP to GCNP to Albuquerque idea and now I have a somewhat shell of an itinerary built with a trip focused on YNP area and wanted to get some feedback.

Right now we are looking at flying in to Jackson Hole on Jun 15 and flying out either the following Saturday or Sunday.

First question...is this a good time to go both crowd and weather wise?

Below is the shell of our itinerary so far...

June 15 - Jackson Hole Lodge

June 16-19 - Canyon Lodge

June 19-20 - Cody Hotel

After that I am a bit lost...my wife wants to stay one night in the Dreamcatcher Tipi's north of YNP so I need to fit that in at some point. Where she would stay the last few nights? Back to Jackson? Somewhere West?

Would love some help as we have both never been out West and this is our first week long vacation in over 10 years with our 6 year old so I want it to be great :)

Pam and others...you talked me out of the trip to Albuquerque...please help! :)

Grant is not the closest location to everything but it is a good place to retire at night away from the crowds after a hectic day fighting people.

Keep checking for OF. Always been able to get lodging in the park in Jan or Feb for our summer and fall trips.

Thank you everyone!

So here is the updated list. All have free cancellation so please let me know if I should shift things around!

Arrive Friday JAC

Friday Night (1 night) - The Jackson Hole Lodge

Saturday Night - Monday Night (3 nights) - Canyon Lodge

Tuesday Night (1 night) - The Cody Hotel

Wednesday Night (1 night) - Dreamcatcher Tipi (Gardinier MT)

Thursday Night (1 night) - Hibernation Station (West Yellowstone)

Friday Night - Saturday Night (1 night) - Cowboy Village Resort (Jackson)

Sunday AM Return Home - JAC

Thoughts on the above? Hoping that I finally have this in a good spot!

If we are able to score OF in Jan/Feb what would you dump? Hibernation? Anything else I should shift? Are we staying too much in Jackson?

Then I will have dinner questions haha :)

THANK YOU SO MUCH!

Given my obvious bias I'm just curious why GTNP and Jackson Hole don't get a single FULL day?

Looks like there is Friday night and Saturday night in Jackson-so 2 nights, not just one? You could look for inside GTNP instead of Jackson for either your first night or your last two nights to get the mountain views. If you decide on a float trip in the Tetons, make sure it is IN the park, not south.

Updated as I was able to get a room at the OF Inn

Arrive Friday JAC

Friday Night (1 night) - The Jackson Hole Lodge

Saturday Night - Monday Night (3 nights) - Canyon Lodge

Tuesday Night (1 night) - The Cody Hotel

Wednesday Night (1 night) - Dreamcatcher Tipi (Gardinier MT)

Thursday Night (1 night) - Hibernation Station (West Yellowstone)

Friday Night (1 night) - OF Inn West Wing

Saturday Night (1 night) - Cowboy Village Resort (Jackson)

Sunday AM Return Home - JAC

Wanted to snag it even though it would be ideal to stay there on Thursday night vs Friday. Keeping my Friday night at Cowboy for now just in case the Thursday opens at OF Inn and I will book and cancel my Friday.

Should we stay two nights at OF if I can get the Thursday? Trying to figure out what the best option is to end the trip...two nights back in YSNP or head down and do two nights in JH before we head out first thing Sunday AM?

Is the OF Inn the best place? I see multiple options for OF and didn't know which was best.

Thanks!!!

Yes OF inn is the actual inn and the food in the dining room is very good imo.

Stay there 2 nights if possible.

Or at least 1 night and spend a little time in the Tetons. Need a full day there also imo.

There really isn't a *best* lodging at Old Faithful, in my view. The OF Inn is the historic, iconic inn built in 1903 with some additional wings. The Snow Lodge is the newest lodging built at Old Faithful. It opened in 1999 and is more like a mid-level hotel chain like Holiday Inn Express. The OF Lodge actually doesn't have rooms in the *Lodge* building but has cabins, some with baths, some with a shared bath. They are older cabins but some were renovated last year.

Here is a googleview of the area so you can see how they are situated.

I, personally, would go for Thurs/Fri at OF BUT you might want to spend another night in the Grand Tetons so you have a full day there. (Two nights = 1 full day).

I'm so glad you got the OF room. I feel confident you will be able to get an OF room for the night you are currently staying in West Yellowstone.

It's really coming together, isn't it?

Pam
