Hi Tessa3

Here is the Yellowstone forum page: tripadvisor.com/ShowForum-g60999-i481 This National Park is hundreds of miles from your other destinations. Are you flying?

If you want general advice about several California destinations, post in the California state forum tripadvisor.com/ShowForum-g28926-i29 . If you want advice about this long road trip, post in the Road Trips forum: tripadvisor.com/ShowForum-g1-i12567

For your entire trip, expect the daily high temperature to vary from 50 degrees to 90 degrees, and the night time low to vary from 25 degrees to 50 degrees. You do have campground reservations for the National Parks, right?

yes we do have the campgrounds reservations as well.

so if i take a couple of jackets for the evenings/night & t/shirts for d days, i should be fine, no? i want to travel as light as possible.

thanks for the links u gave me, i'll have a look at them as well.

thank u for your reply

You'd get good local advice if you went to the yellowstone forum (you're posting in a California forum).

I've been in Yellowstone when it snowed in July and some members of our group were exceptionally sorry they hadn't brought layers. I would bring a pair of leggings or something to go under those zip pants, and a long sleeve shirt suitable for layering (preferably a turtleneck) particularly if you plan to be out in the evening at all (geyser basins are beautiful at sunset). I'd take a warm pair of socks, and if you need a knit hat or gloves, you could easily purchase them in the park.
