Mayakoba - Drinking Water Safe?

We are staying at the Fairmont next week. Will it be safe to drink the water, eat salads, etc?

Yes, the resorts will wash all fruits and vegetables in purified water. The resort will have purified and bottled water for drinking.

I've yet to stay at a resort in this area that doesn't have its own water purification system. The tap water is "safe" to drink in that you won't get any sort of dreaded disease from it but it may contain minerals and other harmless things that are foreign enough to your system to cause stomach upset. For that reason, I wouldn't recommend you drink tap water and if you're really concerned, use bottled water for brushing your teeth too (and remember to keep your mouth closed in the shower!).
