The Transport Co (Government Bus) 999 leaves Laem Ngop about 2.00pm each day and picks up at Chanthaburi bus station about an hour or so later. I believe there's a departure earlier in the morning but I can't remember the time.
Thanks a bunch this helps
Figure on hourly.
There are at least 3 government buses a day, and in addition to those another company, called something like Chan tours, has half a dozen or more departures daily.
Which is the safest company to ride with?
I know it's a silly question, but there are drunk bus drivers... and I don't want to be a statistic.
(and there are elephants crossing enroute to Chanthaburi. quite famous with previous attacks filmed on video and shared via YouTube.)
I'd take the government bus if I had a choice but drunk bus drivers could work for any company.
Thanks for tip regarding government drivers.
That would be the Transport Co? Or Chedchai?
I just returned. Rode on the Transport Co. Ltd bus.
Left Mochit at 6.30am (actually it was 7am by the time we left cos they were seriously waiting for more passengers at Mochit). Arrived at Chanthaburi slight past 12noon.
Pretty nice ride except it was a Class 1 ride, not VIP, so there were a number of stops along the way.
Total 5hrs journey with 1 rest house stop after 2.5hrs on the road.
However, the return trip was bad. Took 5hrs to get from Chanthaburi to Suvarnabhumi. Followed by a further 2hrs to get from Suvarnabhumi to Mochit.
Cost? 187B per sector.Edited: 23 October 2017, 05:18
By Cherdchai Tours runs every hour and every half hour during peak. There are VIP buses but they only run in the afternoon.
Do buses run from 8pm through midnight until 8am? Thanks
Bus is cheap, but really no fun at all. I rather be quick and comfortable in a private car. Should be around 4,000B return. Not expensive at all.
