Please let me know would it be possible to drive through snaefellsnes peninsula route 54 in Mid May?
Shouldn't be a problem.
570 might be tough.
We stayed in Hellnar for 4 nights May 15-18, 2016; the weather was lovely during most of our stay.
Route 54 (Snaefellsnesvegur) was fine for the most part. However, the one day we used it early in the morning, to traverse from the south side to the north side of the peninsula, it was a bit slippery. You will want to check the weather and road conditions at the time of your visit before heading out: http://www.road.is/travel-info/road-conditions-and-weather/west-iceland/west1.html
Route 574 (Útnesvegur) had recently been paved and was a beautiful route to take around the western coast of the Snaefellsnes Peninsula. It's an easy flat road to drive on, and we had no difficulties on that route during our stay. Again, always check weather and road conditions before heading out, using the website above.
The F570 was still completely impassable during our visit because of snow.
Northern_Traveler00 Thanks for the reply
