Any locally owned dive centres in Lembeh?

I am planning to scuba dive in Lembeh and was wondering whether there are any dive centres owned by locals (indonesians). Whenever I travel to Indonesia, I always try to help out the local businesses.

this is a bit of toss up.

we, too, prefer to give the business to the locals, but had quite an unpleasant experience last year on Bunaken.

We stayed in locally owned place, where the dive guides were giving us very, VERY, wrong information, clearly showing they had n idea what they are talking about. Took us to the site, during the times of strongest current, so we did not see much, we struggling to keep up with the current.

So to me- the safety and quality is no. 1, not who owns it.

Boleslav....

Point taken. I just wondered whether Lembeh would be similar to Pulau Weh and Bali, where we managed to find excellent, locally run dive centres.

Thanks for your feedback.

Black Sand in Lembeh is owned and run by an extremely nice couple. The husband is Canadian and his wife is Indonesia w. It is a wonderful property.

Thank you ire123.

Do you know if they have local/indonesian divemasters?

The Aman is managed by locals.

Managed by Robert Soetanto, with over 10 years in the dive industry, and its local dive guides are all certified with excellent knowledge of the ocean and its critters. The head of butler service and housekeeping is from Manado, and supported by an excellent team of engineer, gardeners, security and skilled craftsmen.

"Local knowledge, Global perspective."
