Can anyone give advice about getting from el Bolson to el Chalten by bus. We want to travel towards the end of November. It seems a long ride so is it possible/advisable to do it in one trip?

Hi Helen. I think you have asked a similar question on another post. I have replied there but here I have a better answer.

You need to move to Bariloche (1.30 hs) to take the route 40 bus to El Chaltén via Perito Moreno village. It's 14 hs + 11 hs. You can spend the night in Perito Moreno or move onto Chaltén on the bus. It starts operating on November 15th, on odd days, I think.

You have two other options, both with Marga - Taqsa buslines (the coast road and hwy 40). Like Chalten Travel they start in bariloche and take on passengers in El Bolson and \esquel on the way down,I fuly discuss the options in a previous post: http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowTopic-g294266-i977-k8451165-Bus_from_el_Calafate_to_Bariloche_on_route_40_in_May_2015-Argentina.html#66336182

As I say in the post, I recommend the Taqsa coast road route for comfort. I have heard bad things about the Chatentravel bus, and having to spend the night in PM city is a bit of a pain and expense, so if you decide to go on Hwy 40, you may decide to take the Taqsa bus to do that, it dirves right thru the night.

Thank you. Still not sure whether to try to get a bus right through to el Chalten rather than stop overnight.
