We met a couple of guys from Scotland when we were there. They arrived in Cayo Largo via Havana. And they were only there for a couple of days. Sounds like what you are offered.

I don't see why you can't do what you want to do if you book flight and hotels separately.

Can you fly to Havana? And then on to Cayo Largo? And book the hotel separately?

There are no direct flights from the UK to Cayo Largo, so you will have to do a twin centre holiday combined with Havana.

Here is a link to one tour operator that does this:

Thanks for replies,

Bellagio - thanks, I have looked at that site and yes that was the twin centre I was offered. I dont mind its just that we did Havana last time we were there, guess I will email them see what they can offer.

We just wanted a chil out fornight on the beach, may have to look at Cayo Coco or another on that side wasn't sure about the sea that side ie Atlantic as opposed to Caribbean.

Thanks again.

As shirleyujest said that is another option. As you probably know, Virgin Atlantic fly to Cuba twice weekly from Gatwick and Cubana once weekly. They would be your best bets for flights.

You could look at booking the hotel online at:

www.solmelia.com

They do have a freephone number: 0808 234 1953

Mind you you would still have to book a flight to Cayo Largo from Havana.

Another opption could be to book your holiday with a Canadian tour operator and then book your own flight to Canada.

I did this once as it was cheaper on this occasion to do it that way but I was fortunate enough to have friends in Toronto to stay overnight with.

It'a a view of the beach at Ramon de Antilla.

Go on the holidayplace.co.uk. They are specialists on Cuban holidays. They are really really flexible. I have been ringing them and pestering them over and over as I keep changing my mind on what I want.

Anyway, go onto their website, get thei number and call them up. You might be able to just do one night in Havana as that's where they fly too and the rest in Cayo Largo.

Ask for a lady called Mina, she's really helpful and tell her Mr Surace told you to call ... I want some discount for promoting their services !! haha !

Thank you Chesko82,

I have actually had a change of mind as it seemed to be quite a hassle getting there as we will have two 65 year olds with us and it will only be their second time away, so for this one we are going back to Holguin and will have to do Cayo largo when it is just us.

Thanks for all the replies anyway.
