GPLH Excusions

Hi,

We are going in February and are interested in venturing outside of the resort but not interested in spending more time travelling to the excursion than doing it. Are there any activities available that take less than an hour to get to? We don't want to rent a car but also don't want to be confined to the resort. Any good ideas?

Not much to see in and around Lucea (pronounced as "Lucy"). To read that Fort Charlotte is the "best kept fort in Jamaica" really overstates its condition; not much has been done to attract tourist or provide its history. Since the Palladium was built, I have seen no activity in Lucea creating tourist venues.

Negril is more interesting (just a walk along the Long Bay beach is an adventure) but it is 45 minutes away. And of course, there is the much written about Rick's Cafe (been there once and that was one time too many and others say they enjoyed it).

Beyond Negril, there are two waterfall venues (a zip line is at YS Falls); there is the Appleton distillery tour, the Black River Safari.
