We have tickets to the Olde Lahaina Luau and are wondering if we can take the bus from Maalaea harbor?
Yes, you can use the bus. It's $2.00 to get on, no transfers. Or $4.00 for a day pass. You won't be able to use the bus to get back though, as the luau ends too late.
Check the schedule to make sure.
Welcome to Trip Advisor too!
Lahaina Island, #20 is the bus you will want. It would be fun to take the bus up to Lahaina earlier, and spend some time visiting the shops and galleries. Be aware that the luau is up the north end of town though, behind the Safeway at the Cannery Mall. May be too long of a walk, or too hot, from the center of Lahaina.
Thanks for the help with this. It would be fun to do some shopping and sightseeing first. Could we take a cab back if the bus isn't running ?
If you choose to take the bus, you can also take the "Lahaina Villager" from down at the Wharf to the Cannery Mall.
You will not be able to take the bus *back*, as Joan mentioned. You will be looking at a cab fare of about 80.00 from the Old Lahaina Luau to Maalaea.
And the cabs will ALL be out in front after. Their open bar is premium and if you are choosing to enjoy it, you WILL need a driver. :)
Yes, a driver will be needed as we are all going to enjoy the open bar! We may do the cab back as the fare will be split between 2 couples. Thanks for the help!!
How long are you staying on Maui? I am wondering if you wouldn't want to double book a night at the Pioneer Inn, down by the harbour. Then you could enjoy more of Lahaina the next day, and then take the bus back to Ma'alaea in the late morning or afternoon.
Forget the Pioneer Inn then. Sharing a cab is great!Edited: 28 August 2015, 13:38
Good that you can split the cab! It is the only way to go :-).
