According to the park literature it's 6 K , according to the trail marker it is 5.5K. The wording is: this distance to return. Do not mistake this to mean there and back as I can tell you it means each way!! If you are stopping to take pictures along the way flip flops work well as you go slower and are able to spot amazing things like Indian Pipe (Montotropa uniflora), lichen, moss, mushrooms and various wood decay fungi. If you're not a photo buff, wear your sneakers or hiking shoes. There are some steep areas. You arrive at a beautiful little beach across from Jug Island that is relatively easy to swim to. Bring water shoes as there is tons of barnacles. Remember to pack a snack and drink to make the return trip more enjoyable. We took about 1.5 H each way although we did see people jogging. There are more trails in the park and we'll be back to check them out.
