What a way to spend a wonderful celebrate of our 30th Wedding Anniversary & my Husbands 54th Birthday. It was my 2nd cruise but my husbands 1st. He was very skeptical of going on the cruise, being a germaphobe and out to sea. But seeing how clean everything was, and it showed as we wondered the ship seeking out ducks we never found dust anywhere. The carpets were streamed and cleaned where they were needed, the ship alone smelled clean.
Every single employee we met were the nicest people ever. A special thank you to Puntra that took care the best care of us in our stateroom. Ben from the Buffet manager went above and beyond, he personally called and booked us in Giovanni's for a romantic dinner and a bottle of champagne which Ben gifted to us. Santiago the great bartender in the casino, and last but not least our wonderful severs in the main dining hall Charmaine & Putu, they made ever dinner the best including a birthday song & cake.
My husband is a big fan of playing in the casino's. I tell you definitely use your sea pass to keep track of your points they will add up and you do earn different things such as a free cruise or a free upgraded suite. Just depends on your points.
Even at the end of our trip we were held out to sea an extra night due to Hurricane Milton ripped through Florida's east coast. The high moral was kept light and fun. We will definitely be coming back for many more cruises now that both of us LOVE cruising.

It was great! Lots of fun activities and things to do. It was my first cruise in a while. We went to Bahamas, Jamaica, and Haiti. We all had a blast. If your going on a cruise royal Caribbean is the way to go.

This was the first cruise we had ever been on and it pretty much ruined cruising for us. Right off the bat when getting off the shuttle the dock workers asked if we were going to tip them for taking our bags to the ship!! The ship itself looks nice in pictures but once you get to the rooms its very dated and ran down for the $. The air conditioning in our room didn't work right, the bathroom door came off the hinges, the phone in our room didn't work, and what's the point in having a tv in the room when all the channels are about Royal Caribbean?? The food was seriously lacking to say the least We never ate at the main dining hall because we didn't want to wait 2 hours, and the buffet was the only other food included. There was a Deli in the promenade but I don't consider cheese and tomato sandwiches or pizza with nothing but very little sauce on it food. The buffet was not that great either, some food was either overcooked or undercooked and out of only 3 drink machines only 2 worked. The week we went there was a buddy cruise on our ship, which we didn't mind but over half of the ship were kids and parents just seem to think the cruise ship was a babysitter for them. We had issues with being over charged for some excursions and apparently so did a lot of other people. There was the same couple the entire cruise smoking weed and no one said a thing to them, the drinks all have a tip already calculated into them on top of the gratuity you have to pay in whole at the end of the cruise. An older couple on once of the excursions we were on said this ship was like comparing an extremely run down motel 6 to other cruise lines they have been on. I don't know if all companies were like Royal but we were not impressed at all and will not be doing it again.

This was our third cruise with RC so we planned for a larger ship than previously. We booked an ocean view balcony room as our last interior room experience wasn't enough room to swing a cat with a family of 4 in the room. This room was much bigger & more suitable. Our ports were Cococay Bahamas, Puerto Rico, St Croix US virgin, St Maarten. The room itself is larger but showing signs of its age. Balcony was rusty, couches had stains and needed to be replaced. We ordered mattress toppers (learned from last time the beds are SUPER hard)...and this was much more comfortable. We loved having a balcony though. The stateroom attendants work hard to keep the rooms clean and tidy with cute towel animals. Lots of people complained about mouldy smell but this was not our experience. Our parents had a room on opposite side floor 7 Fwd and their room smelled nice too. We were on floor 8 Fwd. Buffet (Windjammer) - the omelettes were hotter at breakfast than at the MDR. However, everything at the restaurant is repetitive - same stuff every single day for breakfast and lunch. We ate once for dinner - it was okay. Only place to get pizza was on the promenade and they limit to 4 slices - which was poor service when I was trying to get 6 slices for whole family trekking down from pool. MDR - we chose My Time dining, but quickly learned on the first night reservations did not start until 6.45pm - too late for two small kids to eat. So they booked us in for 5.15pm same evening and got the same table each evening. Our waiter was newer but very responsive. Service was slower and took around 1.5-2 hours to complete a full 3 course meal each night. We found the previous smaller ships to be faster. The menus were very similar each night. Same fish only Salmon every single night - this got boring and the vegetarian dishes were limited to just one option. Same appetizers every night too. One lobster night. Just not much variety at all to the menus. The meals were cooked really beautifully though for the most part & we did enjoy the food. They accommodated all requests for substitutions. Shows/ Entertainment - Unless you arrive 30-45 mins earlier, there were no seats anywhere and everything on opposite ends of the ship. Ice show was standing room only. We liked the juggler and Beatles show the best, nothing else really stood out. There were some shows that were not funny or entertaining at all or poorly carried out. We found overall large gaps in entertainment and the cruise director (who we had on a previous ship & everywhere we went) to be none existent on this ship. Our fav entertainer was the guitarist at the pub - he was amazing!! Could sing anything, but didn't start until later. We found it weird to dance in the middle of the promenade while people walking up and down. Not much room for dancing as there is no dance floor. The layout really sucks compared to the smaller ships with a dedicated dance floor. We loved the theme nights. Pool - Despite the do not reserve chairs, all chairs reserved. Almost no entertainment at all. On the smaller ships we found there to be bands, activities, kids activities etc all day long. This was virtually none existent and nothing for the kids. We would have even appreciated some dance music or something/anything in the background than the dull lull of the engine and some weird videos on the small screen. Movie night - only one movie for kids the entire cruise. This was really disappointing as this was a highlight we usually enjoyed too on previous cruises. It was all geared to adults. Ice Skating - we wish there were more times offered as the kids loved doing this two of the days. But this was fun for them! Kids club - my 4 year old enjoyed to go most evenings, but my 7 year old found it too overwhelming as they had a large group of kids who were much older in that club too. It was described as "boring" and not much to do...they played a few games but other than that apparently the adult entertainment was more entertaining! Previously our kids could not wait to go the clubs & cried when I came to pick them up. The little club 3-5yr seemed more entertaining with theme nights, face painting, etc. They also went one evening for dinner so we could have an adult night which was also amazing as this was not offered on the smaller ships. Arcade - we tried that one night. Half the games do not work or have stickers on saying under maintenance. Air hockey table worked and that was fun. Charges - keep a close eye on your credit cards! Weird charges appeared and also we got charged for drinks despite having a deluxe drink package - customer service sorted this out though. Slides - our 7 year old was unable to use due to being 1/2 inch too short which really sucked as we are short people & we are strong swimmers for the ages. This then limited any of the "big kid" activities like slides, wave rider, etc as we had outgrown the splashpad area. Cococay we love it there! So much for the entire family to do! Drink, eat, pool, beach, splashpad, slides. No complaints. San Juan, Puerto Rico - self guided tour to castle. Was a longer walk for kids but it was a great day & tones of iguanas. We ate locally. Try the Mallorca & Palates. Beautiful city to visit. St Croix - turtles right off dock. We went to beach by cruise port but heard Rainbow was nicer, so we regret not going there. Beach was beautiful though & crystal clear water. St Maarten - tour with Bernard's. Was amazing! Brilliant reviews & highly recommend. Overall we had a great cruise, but I would likely go back to a smaller ship next time for better entertainment.

For me and my spouse, the Adventure was a splendid ship and a cherished experience; but we were the right demographic for a Royal Caribbean cruise. We've been on four cruises, and one thing I've learned from cruises is this: every cruise line is The Best for a specific type of passenger, and every cruise line is underwhelming-to-disappointing for some other type. Royal Caribbean knows its customer base, and it shows: the Adventure of the Seas is a gorgeous ship, elegantly decorated and furnished. Its cabins, interior spaces, pool decks, food, activities, shows, and recreational areas are beautiful and fun for adults or teenagers. That there is the tricky part: if you're the right age range and you want to enjoy the ship itself, then Royal Caribbean is your The Best. But in my experience, all cruise lines are The Best at something, or for somebody. Royal Caribbean can't compete with Disney for making children happy; who can? It isn't as luxurious as Holland America; but it also doesn't cost as much. NCL is the best for shore excursions, and Carnival still excels when it comes to entertaining singles (and giving good hookup opportunities). So you first have to ask yourself which category you are: coupled? single? teen? parent? adventurer? hanger-outer? This ship was The Best for families with teenagers, couples who want to relax (that was us!), and singles with no social expectations. If you're the Royal Caribbean kind of passenger, you'll love this cruise.

The Adventure turned into a Disaster of the Seas. ---The stops in four ports-of-call were a prime reason for booking this cruise. When three of the stops were eliminated, our cruise lost much of its value. ---Another reason for booking this cruise was to celebrate our 52nd wedding anniversary. I made a reservation at Chops to celebrate on our special day, emphasizing the reason for our reservation. We received no special recognition, and instead we received indifferent service. For example, my potato arrived just in time for dessert. ---I had booked a special room for the cruise. Starting the second night of the cruise, a loud banging sound developed. It was so loud we couldn't sleep. Other guests on our deck also experienced the loud noise. I asked Guest Services for another room so we could get some sleep. They booked us into a room that turned out to be a storage room for mattresses. The next room was an interior room downgrade. We did not get much sleep that night. We decided to endure the banging for the next two nights in our own room rather than hazard another relocation. I guess they never considered moving us to a nicer room. ---I have lower back issues and I find a daily soak in the hot tubs sitting in front of the jets to have great therapeutic value. As mentioned in other posts, the hot tubs were either empty or the heaters were not working. One dip in an unheated tub was the extent of my therapy. ---We are Diamond level cruisers. One of the perks of this level is a free drink in the Royal Crown lounge. Before the cruise, we received an email that said due to the large number of guests with Diamond Plus or Pinnacle status, we would be barred from using the lounge during happy hours. ----I enjoy watching football on weekends. The sports network went blank for three or four days. ----I wanted to watch my nephew's basketball game on the internet, so I bought a day's worth of Voom. The streaming was constantly interrupted by buffering and the fellow at the Voom desk could not get it to work right. Of course there were also some good experiences during the cruise. We tend to see the glass as half full rather than half empty. However, the glass was only 1/4 full on this cruise. The good experiences did not come close to cancelling out the bad ones. This kind of thing happens occasionally. We've experienced problems on other cruises, as have most veteran cruisers. Royal Caribbean refunded the value of the two days on which the ship did not sail. The contract requires them to give us credit for the days they do not provide service. This did not come close to covering the additional expenses we incurred during the two days we were stranded in Barcelona. In the past, Royal Caribbean has gone above their legal obligations to make offers that were designed to compensate us for our bad experiences and ensure we would book future sailings with them. Not this time. We were told on board the ship that "Shore" had issued directions that no special compensation would be issues above the legally required credit for the two missed days. I wrote to the CEO of Royal Caribbean anyway, hoping that our very bad experience would convince the top management that something additional should be done. I received a very well written letter in response, replete with apologies and promises to do better next time. However, the bottom line was that they could not do anything special for us because they would then have to do something special for all of the other guests who were inconvenienced. The new business model at Royal Caribbean seems to be: leave them all unhappy and save the money. Good luck with that strategy, Royal Caribbean.
