Terrible, Terrible, Terrible.

Please avoid if you can.

Air France couldn't fly me to the connecting flight from Paris to Cancun so they flew me to Madrid saying that my connection to Cancun will be operated by AeroMexico. Fair enough. Girlfriend has traveled with AeroMexico before and they are cool. But No. This particular flight is operated by Air Europa. Haven't heard of them before so I thought maybe give them a try but they are so so awful. My worst flight experience till date and my first time crossing the Atlantic wasn't a pleasant experience.

The lunch was amazing though but the ground staff is unorganized, the flight attendants are confused themselves, there are no screens on Economy seats so good luck figuring out how you'll spend rest of the 11 hour flight. The WiFi is nice and you can catch two, yes, only two television shows on your personal tablet/phone (which is counted as in-flight entertainment). If you run out of battery then you're out of luck. The cockpit announcements in English were barely audible. Leg space is awful. Besides, they "forgot" to put my bag on the plane and it was stuck in Madrid for two days. The Air Europa representative at Cancun was very helpful though who made sure that I received my bag at my local address in Mexico. The plane itself seemed old and rusty. I don't trust AirBus manufactured planes in general and this flight cemented my opinion even more.

I would never fly with this carrier ever again. Only good things are WiFi on-board and the nice lunch they served. Other than that, everything was horrible.

The plane was delayed 3 hours with no explanation
Food is bad even if you pay for it
The only good thing is flexibility of flights

Originally I booked my flight to be from 3rd feb. to 24th feb. I booked from their website although Expedia and other portals were showing a lower rate. On the web side you have the option to reserve your sits at an extra charge (I guess it was 10 or 20 EUR and for sits at the exit doors was 50EUR). Since the flight from Madrid to Guayaquil and viceversa is the longest one I decided to pay for my sits and my boyfriend's. Few weeks later I got an email saying that my flight got cancelled. I called them and they offered me to change dates and fly on 5th or get my money back. I opted for the first option because Iberia and KLM were by that time more expensive. Once we enter in the plane our sits were not the ones I reserved and payed for and instead of giving us something similiar we got the middle row although I reserved the side because of the only 2 sitting areas that sides have (privacy and comfort) The food was horrible. Veggies were row, and for breakfast we got a ham cheese toast. The bread tasted like it was kept in the plane for a week or longer and had been only warmed up.
For the flight back to Munich, we got informed that the flight from Guayaquil to Madrid got cancelled/ delayed and instead of flying at 12:00, we flew at 12:20. I was already wondering if they will change my sits again although I have already reserved and payed for them and yes, the did it again. We were put again in the middle row and this time even next to the bathroom. We couldn't sleep during those 11hours. When I asked the flight attendant, if he could do something because I payed in advance for the sits I wanted. He said he cant and if I wanna complain I should do it by the company. The service was horrible. Flight attendants were not really taking care of the people while passing with their trolleys. My neighbor got hit 2 times while he was sleeping. The attendant just said sorry and kind of ignore him. They even served the food in such a bad mood that you can literally say that they were throwing the plate on ur table. They were not kind.
Since We couldn't sleep in the plane, we came home on that Saturday and slept the all day. Thought no one was gonna be able to help me and refund my money for the sits on weekends and since I work from Monday to Friday and was not gonna have time to call again I wrote them on their website for customer service. I wrote the same, what I am telling here and til now I haven't received and answer. Therefore I have to say: worse service I ever had and never again I will do the same mistake of flying with air Europa again.

The entertainment system in my seat was broken; the plane had (paid) wifi, which could have made up for the pain of lack of entertainment on a 12-hour flight if offered for free, but this didn't happen. The crew, with some exceptions, was quite rude (a stewardess physically pulled me out of a restroom situated in coach but supposedly intented for business). Check-in was extremely slow. I had a 7-hour wait on my last leg and Air Europa wanted to charge me 2,5k Euro (more than I had paid for the entire trip) to rebook to an earlier flight. The partner airline operating the flight (last leg was a domestic 1-hour flight with quite frequent departures) rebooked it at no charge, however. The cabin air was very dry and warm and I woke up mid-flight having difficulty breathing, as if there was not enough oxygen/pressurization (this was later fixed). Unless you can get a very cheap fare (which was not my case), choose another carrier.
