I had an extremely disappointing experience with Air New Zealand. I paid for a seat, but they casually gave it away to someone else and then refused to give me a refund. Initially, they told me to wait 6-8 weeks for a resolution, but then they changed their mind and outright rejected my request. As a result, I'm now out a couple of hundred dollars.
To make matters worse, I got sick from eating the plane food, which is bioengineered and made in a laboratory. This type of food does not assimilate well with the human body, and many passengers, including myself, fell ill.
Additionally, their customer service is abysmal. They employ delaying tactics and keep passing customers from one department to another, hoping to wear them down so they abandon their refund requests. It's a frustrating and dishonest practice.
Do not fly with Air New Zealand. You've been warned. Not only do they mess up your flight, but their GMO food will also make you sick.
