“Very good flying company”
Review of Alitalia

Reviewed January 4, 2020

A beautiful trip starts with a beautiful flight.I flew from Tel Aviv to Palermo, changing the plane to Rome (Same thing when returning) . Everything went very pleasant, the stewardesses very polite, the captain explained the places we were flying, the ground staff politely and efficiently. Breakfast on the plane was a pleasant surprise, compared to other companies I flew with.

The check in and boarding were quick and easy, and we left on time, unfortunately the total lack of leg room completely turned the flight into the most unpleasant journey I have ever experienced. I am about 1.85 cm in height, which is fairly average these days, and I had to sit in a twisted position for over three hours. The discomfort only got worse when the passenger sitting in front of me reclined his seat. Try eating like that. On the other hand, I must say, that the flight crew were polite, friendly and as helpful as they could be, the steward commented that yes it is a bit tight. May I suggest that anybody booking to fly Alitalia should check on the leg room on their impending flight.

Date:January 1st 2020
Flight: AZ156 from Rome (08.25am)TO Brussels(10.40am)

Having lost my luggage en route from Barcelona to Rome, I was taking no chances arriving into Brussels and thus was first to embark the plane so I could quickly get to the luggage carousel. I politely asked your Alitalia female staff member at the exit gate for directions to which she replied “Just follow the sign” - no assistance whatsoever or even a simple body gesture. So I asked her again and this is when she became very impatient and responded, to which I quote “If you can’t read the sign you are a very stupid lady”. As you can imagine, at this point I felt insulted and upset at this racist comment so I asked for her name but she refused and even hid her name tag. So I was left no option but to take the attached photo of her. It takes a lot for me to name and shame someone - but since I’m unable to name her I definitely want to to shame her. Coming from Australia, not familiar with any of Europe this was my initial welcome to Belgium? Very unimpressed and absolutely the opposite of paying ‘meticulous attention to service quality’ that you claim to uphold.

Please feel free to view airport CCTV cameras in regards to this incident. I feel this staff member needs re-training in areas of good manners and customer relations as I would not want other future passengers subjected to this treatment.

I await your response.

I was traveling for a wedding. About 20 minutes before take-off, I had gotten up to use the bathroom. As soon as I locked the door, a flight attendant pounded on the door telling me to get out. I had opened the door to an angry woman motioning to sit back down and yelling, “come on!”.

As I started walking back to my seat, she grabbed my shoulder pushing me in the direction I was already going. It was completely unacceptable behavior and use of physical force. The only redeeming action she made was to apologize for her rude behavior later during the flight.

Following take-off, unfortunately the service didn’t get much better. The rounds of beverages, even water, were limited. I was parched the entire flight. I had requested assistance from a flight attendant by turning the light signal on for water. Instead of responding the request, the flight attendant turned my signal off and eventually I had to go to the back of the plane for water.

The experience was one of my less pleasant ones as a frequent traveler. I do not recommend flying with this airline.

Departure flight was OK from Washington To FCO but coming back from FCO to Washington left a bad taste in my mouth.
It happened when crew members were collecting the garbage once the passengers were served with food. They hauled the garbage cart so fast and didn’t allow enough time to throw the garbage in the cart. Instead it fell on one of the passengers behind my seat. Without looking into the situation crew member who was hauling the cart start shouting (rudely) as it was my fault. I asked the other crew members to give me his batch ID or name to show my concern to the airline (later on) and surprisingly no body was willingly to give me a piece of paper and to write his name or his batch ID.
Instead when I took his picture with my cellphone to identify the crew member (for my reference for Alitalia), they called the flight manger who threatened me that he will call the police if I don’t delete the picture as it was a security issue. Giving out the batch ID doesnt supposed to be the security issue which they also denied! Secondly, I was not taking the picture for no reason. I was taking it because all of crew members became uncooperative all of a sudden.
There is a big customer service issue with Alitalia. They should have been looking into the situation why their crew member shouted so loudly and rudely upon me at the first place. Had they not moving the garbage cart so fast my garbage would have not fallen on the other customer. They don’t realize why somebody will throw the garbage on other customer to begin with. Logically, something must had happened that garbage fell on the other customer.
Even if It was my fault, the crew member should not shout (whatsoever) on any customer. Rather, they should try to normalize those situations even when they just smell it before their occurrence. I feel myself humiliated by the crew members.
