Was wrongly charged RMB 2000 for golf equipment due to wrong interpretion of rule by China Airline rep at the airport. Wrote multiple emails to airline without even a reply.
Resorted to posting complain on their Consumer Board without reply as well. The board is now(was active before) non-functional but still list a host of complains from past history.'
Would avoid China Southern at all cost

Bit of a mission two weeks before our scheduled flight to check tickets on-line and make seating changes. We could not even to check-in or change on-line the day before our flight. So we arrived early to Auckland airport international check-in and had our seats moved (upgraded) without charge. Got a window and an aisle seat with middle seat blocked out. Lady steward on plane gave us a further move (no problems with English language). So, we had a three-seat space to lie down on.
All food service was very good, included Kapiti ice cream. Plenty to drink. Plenty of movies. USB plug in back of seat in front.
Lights out most of the fight time making snoozing slightly possible. As usual I knew to drink lots of water and take this old dog for a frequent walk down the aisle.

Pretty good service overall. the food is very average, and if you get stuck because of delays it gets very ugly, but they sort this out for your pretty well. my connection flight was re-arranged automatically and they put me on an electric car that took me to the international transfer. great service!

I took this airline multiple times in a month for domestic flights within China. Most of the time the only issue was the bus going from the terminal to the plane. In Shanghai, Beijing and Xi'an, there was no gate and you had to ride a very crowded bus to the plane. After getting off the bus, there was more pushing and shoving to race to the plane. Some staff could alleviate this problem. Other than this, I got my vegetarian meals as ordered and the staff spoke enough English for us to get by. The flights were all on time and they did not weigh my carry on which I was worried about. Their only real rule was not packing a "battery pack" or lithium battery.

This was a good flight. The food and service were about the same as any other and it was significantly cheaper. They give you a free hotel, transfer and breakfast if you have along stopover and this was really smooth and good. You can book the hotel yourself on their website but you don't need to. When you go through transit , you get a 72 hour visa which is fee and then they show you to the hole counter , and someone takes you to your hotel. It's very easy and getting back to the airport to resume your flight is easy too. The flight forom Guangzhou was in a lovely new plane and the food was great. It did leave 5 hours late and we missed our connection but rebooking at a kiosk in Amsterdam was very easy too .
