“Not great”
Review of EGYPTAIR

Reviewed 5 weeks ago

After booking our flight with the travel agent we had done our research and found people had mixed reviews about Egypt Air.

This was my experience with four flights with Egypt Air:

The staff were nice and helpful

The quality of the TV in each flight was different but all times the touchscreen of the TV was not great as you have to press really hard to select an option and one time the remote I had was almost broken.

The chairs aren't that comfy on shirt haul flights but average for long haul flights. The area where you would add your stuff had a whole in all the seats which led to people items dropping on the floor.

Food was standard so can't complain about that.

One thing I did realise that when we boarded the flights the table tray were dirty each time and was not clean at all.

Apart from one flight out of the three I took, only once did they hand out headphones to use for the TV. So do please bring your personal ones.

There was blankets already added to people seats before boarding the plane but not everyone had it.

One thing I realised that the cabin crew were not strict with people reclining their seats and leaving the window blind down whilst taking off and getting ready to land.

I don't think I ever would use Egypt Air again but it's not the worst I have ever used.

I have been traveling for 15 years with different airlines, and I have never been treated with such disrespect as I was with EgyptAir on my flight from Dublin, Ireland to Cairo (Flight MS776.I had checked in online the day before, and the baggage drop-off deadline was 12:20 PM, one hour before departure. I arrived at 12:19 PM, but there were no EgyptAir staff at the counter. A security officer directed me to Swissport, the handling agent for EgyptAir.The Swissport staff were extremely professional and did their best to help me. One of their agents contacted the EgyptAir manager to allow my baggage, but he flatly refused. The Swissport agent called him again, but he insisted on rejecting it. Another passenger on a different airline was allowed to check in without any issues, proving that this was purely a decision made by the EgyptAir manager. The Swissport agent, knowing airport regulations, issued my boarding pass but apologized, saying he could not accept my bags because the EgyptAir representative refused.I proceeded to the boarding gate, where a very professional Swissport employee reprinted my boarding pass and called the same EgyptAir manager about my baggage. He refused again. I approached him with the employee and explained my situation, saying that I had to get to Egypt that day. I even offered to pay additional fees to check my baggage, but he simply replied, “Madam, I closed baggage drop at 12:20, and I cannot accept your bags.” The Swissport team was willing to accommodate me, but he chose to make things difficult instead. Then he told me: “If you want to travel, go ahead without your baggage!”. Of course, I refused, and instead of helping me, he decided to offload me from the flight completely! I knew he had no right to do this, and I could have delayed the flight, but I thought about my children’s school schedule and how their father needed to get back to them. After the plane departed, I waited for him to explain the situation, and when my husband asked for an explanation, he rudely responded, “It’s not our business!” He offered no assistance whatsoever and simply told us to “contact sales to book a new ticket.”

Horrible service, unprofessional handling, and complete disrespect for passengers. I never expected such treatment from a national airline like EgyptAir!

I recently flew (Dcember 2024) from Nairobi to France via EgyptAir with all my travel documents in order, including a valid visa and a confirmed return ticket with a different airline. However, I was wrongfully denied boarding at Nairobi Airport by EgyptAir officials, who insisted that I must have a return flight booked exclusively with them.

Despite showing my valid return ticket, they threatened to leave me behind and claimed it was their "responsibility" to bring me back. This is blatant extortion—no airline has the right to dictate how a passenger returns, as long as legal entry requirements are met. Additionally, nowhere in their terms and conditions is this policy stated.

Left with no choice, I was forced to book an unnecessary return flight with EgyptAir just to be allowed to board. Once I arrived in Paris, I immediately canceled it—further proving how unjustified and unnecessary their demand was.

This experience felt deeply discriminatory, and I cannot help but question whether the same treatment would have been given to a white traveler. EgyptAir’s actions were unethical, unprofessional, and unacceptable.

I strongly advise against flying with this airline. Their lack of transparency, poor customer service, and exploitative policies make them an airline to avoid at all costs.

First time in my life that I am writing a negative review unfortunately.

Although I love EGYPTAIR please don’t save miles via their frequent flyer programme. We saved miles for years including via many business class flights. EGYPTAIR erased all the earned miles even though they have all the documented proof. They ignore my mails with the official files including booked flights, using our frequent flyer membership numbers within the required time frame before they expire. They don’t respond to mails or return calls for a very long time now. I am shocked and dissappointed about their approach to this situation.

Unfortunately I would definitely recommend to save your miles via another airline with a reliable reward programme since they can just decide to erase it.
