“What an improvement to my first flight experience with Oman Air”
Review of Oman Air

Reviewed 5 weeks ago

Having such a terrible experience with my flight from Bangalore to Muscat - I was apprehensive for my return journey Muscat to Bangalore on the 5th of October 2018. For flight WY281 a brand new 7M8 (A40-MA) was used nice seats all the first flight was not.
As it was a early morning flight I did not want eat anything, Just asked for a glass of wine - again in a plastic bottle - I am not a snob but wine out of a plastic bottle just does not do it for me EVER.
The contrast between the inflight and the business class lounge at Muscat Airport is like chalk and cheese. spanking new, super selection of everything splendid and attentive service simply five star. My question is why can this not be transmitted into a flight experience?
Will try Oman Air once more for a long haul flight.

I have been trying to fly with this airline for some time, in September 2017 it happened.
I flew from Bangalore to Muscat on the 4th of September business class and what a disaster it was!!!
The plane A40-BM is 9 years old which is really nothing but the interior in business class is shocking. Torn seat pockets, bad odour, greeted me. Very friendly service of course but the most terrible food, the Mezze platter consisted of a garlic cream cheese - dished up as Labneh and nothing else. The steward could not explain why. The kingfish had such an overpowering smell accompanied by totally dried out rice - not edible at all. On questioning the Steward I was informed it came from an Indian Airline Caterer in Bangalore - bloody poor show. To crown it all the wine came in a small plastic bottle and that is just not good enough for a business class menu - Oman Air guys please look at this or do without wine.
Oh yes, Coffee or dates were not offered either - totally disappointed which kind of dampened my spirits for Oman altogether.

The check in at Bangkok, done in a few minutes. Modern plane associated with a five star service. Lounge in Oman a must.
Highly recommend this airline.

The level of service on this airline is as good as I've has on any of the major Middle Eastern Airlines. The welcome Omani Coffee and dates (delicious) and general attention was understated but professional. Nothing was too much trouble from helping with my own headphone connection to rebooting my system when needed. Window seating was in the staggered configuration. Great for privacy but means the cubicles are long and narrow. My seat 10K was at the front of the section so the TV screen was just a little too far away for me. Entertainment selection wasn't huge but quite current.
The food was excellent and plentiful.
The seat was comfortable and seemed wider than others. When made up into a flatbed for sleeping it was roomy and very comfortable.
A shame this airline doesn't fly into Australia.

Oman Air has improved in leaps. Their modern airplanes and excellent service seems to go along with the new International airport in Muscat.
