The one of worst airlines there. The in-flight services are the worst! Upon boarding to the aircraft, we have noticed there is AIR-CONDITION, the aircraft is hot-hell! And I have ask the stewardesses to give me some water since I could not bring in the gate waiting for our flight due to security purposes. When I have the flight attendant to give me some water, she just replied, we will be serving foods later. The WORST!! After almost an hour, they served the foods and drink! Still, I keep my calm. They expect me to wait that long for a meal water since I am so thirsty! We have chosen this flight due to the entertainment provided while on board. My Husband and I keep asking several flight attendants to fix the audio, nobody seems to care! Until, I really make a complain why nobody seems to care about our issue! After I burst out to complain, they just inform to restart, still, the audio not yet fixed. And the SR Attendant inform us to complain to their customer service! Hahahahaha. Funny, the worst service with very high price! We will never again fly with this airline!

I booked my tickets in February 2024 and was very unhappy with my recent flight with Sri Lankan airlines.
Initially going to Columbo we were not honoured with the seats that i had selected when booking. We had booked two seats near the window instead were put in the middle row. My husbands seat did not recline, our entertainment system was not working properly, it kept pausing and stopping the movie, the screen was dirty with sauce, it was a very uncomfortable flight.

Coming home from Columbo I had paid for certain seats, again this was not honoured. I went to the service desk and the lady said these are paid seats but as far as i knew i had paid for them. I have receipts to prove that i had paid for seats. Again we were put in the middle seats which is not what i had booked.

As suggested by the service desk I emailed customer@srilankan.com on the 25 July 2024. The return email said they will respond after 12 working days. Today is the 15 August 2024 and i still have not heard back from them. I emailed them again on the 13 August 2024 and did not even receive a receipt email.

I paid approximately $4500 for two people plus extra for seats for return flights Melbourne to Columbo.

This is not good enough from Sri Lankan airlines. Non existent customer service. Extremely disappointing. I am owed a refund for the seats that i paid extra for and can't even get a hold of them. I would not recommend them and don't advise anyone to fly with Sri Lankan airlines.

Sri Lankan Airlines Was The Worst Airline I Have Been In. The Food Was Not Tasty And The Temperature Wasnt Maintained. The Service Was Very Slow, No Leg Space And The Seats Were Uncomfortable, The Flight Was Delayed. Overall I Dont Not Recommend Sri Lankan Airlines To Travel.

Outward journey was kind of ok (staff were friendly, flight on time) although the in-flight entertainment system was useless. It kept freezing and required constant re-booting. My Wife started 4 movies but never got to the end of any. Not great for an 11 hour flight. Overall i thought the propensity of bad reviews a bit harsh though. But now i’m sitting at the departure gate on the return journey and fuming at the silly OTT security and general customer service. Upon entering air side all passengers go through the usual comprehensive security, x-ray machines and immigration. We did the usual consumption of water and disposal of bottles beforehand. Once airside we bought the usual overpriced water to be able to take medications and generally keep hydrated in this warm humid space. Upon entering the departure gate lounge, Sri Lankan subject passengers to another round of security and x-rays (fair enough i suppose). At this point we had the 2 (still sealed) bottles confiscated, despite our remonstrations. Other passengers were forced to step back outside and guzzle the water down if they wanted. We had just done that a short while before when land side. I fail to see the extra security benefit of this stupid rule. Then, we were subjected to another passport check where the staff member asked my wife to keep still and pull her hair back, while checking her passport photo with a single eye glass. Having travelled through more than 50 airports in the last decade we have never come across such a ridiculous procedure (especially when the photo is as clear a likeness as you could hope to see). Now our flight is delayed and we are sitting at the gate getting very thirsty. They may be the only (expensive) direct service from London, but i strongly recommend any other carrier but them to get to the lovely land of Sri Lanka. Do they have any clue about customer care or retention? Zero stars from me.

I was more than happy with my experience flying Sri Lankan Airlines. The staff were lovely and attentive. The food was great, better than I had experienced on an earlier flight with another airline. The plane wasn't full for one flight but was for the other. Both times the bathrooms were kept clean.
I booked a bulkhead seat in economy which only cost $50 NZ extra and it had great leg room. It didn't have a bathroom close to it which was good
I didn't find the entertainment screen easy to navigate and the movie selection wasn't that good. Other than that I couldn't fault my flight
I'd had to change the date of one flight, using their app I was surprised it only cost me $100 to change. The app is easy to use
I love the uniforms the ladies wear, they are so elegant
