We visited at the end of September 2017 and this complex may be lively in high season but it was so quiet and many of the activities/facilities were not available, the only organised activity was pool biking on three days. One pool was closed, the bar ran out of white wine, the complex train ceased running, the hotel shuttle bus to the beach ran less than advertised, the meals were unexciting. No afternoon or evening snacks were provided on the last 3 days The evening entertainment consisted of a singer who played the same recorded songs every night. As we had booked this holiday a while ago it appears we paid far more than the other guests who had taken advantage of a late deal. If the hotel is not going to provide the facilities advertised they should advise guests and give them the opportunity to cancel. We can say that the rooms in the main building are excellent although only one English TV Channel was available (CNN) The pool which was open was good and private beach is good, plenty of sun loungers but even the bar which should have provided soft drinks was closed on the last 2 days. No apology was offered just a statement that due to the lack of bookings the management had decided to close the complex on 7 October 2017. If you do book make sure the facilities/activities are available for the period you choose as there are no restaurants or entertainment alternatives nearby.

This is by far the worst holiday we have ever had where do I start first thing make sure you take euros as they don't exchange at the hotel and there is nowhere else to get any unless you go out on a trip which are very expensive and some even take 3 hours each way to travel the food was cold and some were freezing like the pizza wich was obviously bought in as we could see the boxes and defrosted but still frozen in the middle there was loads of pasta but no sauces they don't cater for English just the French who are the most ignorant people and will tread on you to get to the dining room instead of waiting in the queue they will push in as a few did and trod on us many a time to get passed trying to explain an English coffee was hard work so I just gave up and asked for white tea as their English is not good the snacks at the pool bar were not free to all inclusive as stated you had to pay 5 euros for a sandwich the only all inclusive short free was their crappy vodka all other shorts were to be paid for and the lager was served in a wine glass there was nothing to do at the resort because the entertainment team only spoke in Italian or French so you couldn't understand to join in they also at the pool bar ran out of lemonade and tea plus the balcony had a huge hedge in front so you couldn't get any Sun there the description was wrong saying it was a hotel in a village the hotel is the village there's no point going out as there's nothing to see but sand and hills you can't even walk to the beach it's to far not 2k as stated it's about 4 miles so is the nearest village and taxis are very expensive just for a ten minute ride don't rely on getting tabacco or drink at airport there's no duty free at all there which we should have been told by the rep and only Marlborough at the resort and the supermarket on site was useless you can't even get chocolate there unless you like chewing sweet chalk its disgusting there was a lot of English complaining one couple we spoke to were looking to book a flight back after only 3 days there the only good points are the Olympic size swimming pool and the rooms were clean other than that there's nothing else good about it if you just want to doss by the pool and do nothing it's the holiday for you but unless you want to spend hundreds on trips out its not for you if we could have got a flight home we would have definitely won't go back there again even if it was free

Didn't know what to expect from this hotel after reading the reviews, but very pleasantly surprised! We were given a spacious two bedroom apartment on the ground floor which was lovely, even had its own garden. Fruit and a bottle of wine were left for us, which was a nice touch.
Not so many English at this hotel, mainly Italian and French. They were very friendly and it encouraged us to try different languages.
Food was ok. Always something for the kids, and not chips every day (which was good!). Lovely desserts. Breakfast probably our least favourite. Always plenty of fresh fruit, and everything was replenished frequently, despite the crowds. No problem getting a table either. On the whole I can't complain about the service, the staff did a good job, especially the entertainment staff!
Evening entertainment was a bit hit and miss, as sometimes in Italian. But most of the time they translated everything and the kids were entertained. The best thing about it was the pool parties!! (Ok the kids stayed up very late...). My son saw his thirteenth birthday in at midnight in the pool. The atmosphere was amazing. Disco music, fire eaters, Zumba....it was thrilling for all ages I think. This was in the Olympic pool, the inflatable slide was up as it is during the day, and my six year old was going down it. She loved it. During the day it was fun too. Always managed to get beds. Always music playing but added to the party atmosphere. Lots of pool entertainment. Aqua aerobics was great as was the Zumba. Easy to keep active if you want to.
We did one trip to Etna, which was great but expensive. Probably would be wise another time to hire a car for the week to see more of the beautiful island.
We were all-inclusive, and I do agree with others that not everything was included. Very limited drinks. I had hardly any alcohol all week really. No ice cream for the kids so obviously had to buy that and ending up buying snacks from the bar on occasion. But considering the price it is still good value.
If I had to pick one negative it would be the cleanliness of the public toilets. They really let the hotel down. Some locks missing, no paper in some, and others......well you can imagine
But our apartment was cleaned every day and new towels left etc, so no problem there.
Overall, for the money we paid we had the best holiday. I could go on and on, but I wont!
The kids loved it, teenagers would love it, and I woild definitely come back again!

We have just returned from Athena Resort and had the most wonderful time! It's perfect for families as there is so much to do, with two pools and a beach to choose from as well as endless games and activities. The entertainment teams work very hard through out the day and night. The staff are very helpful and the hotel is kept clean throughout the day. The food is amazing - beware, you will gain weight! One thing to note, the hotel is pretty far from anywhere so I would recommend booking an excursion or hiring a car as Sicily is stunning. We had a perfect family holiday and will definitely be returning!

Well, definitely not a 4 star resort as it is described on official web pages (let them declare what they want, but Neckermann resp. Thomas cook should change the rating internally, while it is far away from 4 stars standard .....).
May be sufficient for the Italy & French guests (70-80% of all) who came there as to their standard holiday village / camping. But for rest of the world and those who expect luxury, quality, cleanness and all the other things of 4 star resort this can only be a big disappointment :-(
Restaurant use to be a kind of a battle zone (20 mins after start there is mess like on junkyard - food everywhere, on the floor, on the tables, which are regularly not cleaned etc.). Staff in restaurants is unbelievable - they do not clean the tables, just takes out the dishes / plates and let all the rest (rest meal, napkins etc.) on the table..... And this with big smile like look what we do for You..... LOL. I really do not know if they are so lazy, or if they have such a rules given (not to change tablecloth, not to clean the table, not to clean the floor etc.) – really strange.
I recommend to make a reservation for dinner in the Ipari restaurant that is a bit better (minimum there is not so chaos). However as well here – if You look from a bit distance, it looks luxury, but when You come and sit inside the feeling is out as the chair covers are totally dirty (faraway from crystal white) – no idea why it should be a problem to use a wash machine and to have every day clean covers.
On the beach, there You can have with all-inclusive only non-alcoholic drinks (even a draft beer is not for free here) and generally the all-inclusive concept is here faraway from 4 star standard (I would name it Full Board Plus). And when You will get hour by hour message that there is some other drink spent (from lemonade, through sprite to Fanta), than You can have written even Ultra All Inclusive, but in reality You can drink water ….. LOL. And, well, this is not a story of few minutes or hours and the hotel secures the missing goods are filled up – forget it, this persists few days (it is probably easier to tell, there is something missing, than to fill it up  ) .
As You are totally in land of nowhere it should be strongly recommended to hire a car. But do this outside (already on airport or somewhere else), while the hotel offers only one of most expensive car hire (Europcar) located directly on reception. And the car You will use for sure – minimum the beach is 5 km drive away and surely there is a lot of beautiful places to see, but in range up to 100 km (when You use to book a daily excursion from the hotel, it cover only transport costs, so with the car rental You will save in the end effect)!
PS – I saw some responds of hotel management here, but it is just a tongue exercise at all – no real feedback that we have changed this, from that time we do this twice a day, we check restaurants and drinks availability each hour and when something is missing we will fill it up on hourly base ….. just a tongue exercise we do our best and believe You will come back. Gents, no one who wrote unsatisfied recension will come back, when You do not explain actions You did for the topics he found as not perfect …….
