Description: On crossing the wooden bridge that leads to Ristorante Pappagallo, you will see swimming beneath there are sleek silvery tarpon, always on the lookout for scraps from the kitchen. You are thus, thrown into a world of the exotic, even before reaching the front door! Then, as you enter the spacious foyer, you're met at the front door by an African gray parrot, humorously called Humphrey Bogart. He is one of the oldest Pappagallo employees with over ten years experience in welcoming guests and posing for photos (especially with the little ones!). You will then immediately notice the inviting and well-stocked bar, decorated in an art deco style, where customers can take pre-dinner drinks or enjoy an after dinner drink in a cool and inviting atmosphere. On your right hand side, lies one of our two dining rooms, the Pappagallo Room. Inside, the impressive high ceiling will grab your attention, with its typical Mexican-style thatching. Wrought iron lights gently illuminate the air-conditioned room and huge glass-fronted bird cages feature all around the walls housing live parrots, macaws, cockatoos and African grays, all vying for your attention. The walls are also decorated with colorful pictures of parrots and a giant turtle shell which came from a 500 pound green sea turtle, which was raised in Cayman at West Bay's Turtle Farm. All this, and a great view of the waterfall cascading into the lagoon directly outside the room... how can you possibly forget that you are dining in a tropical paradise? On your left hand side of the foyer is the Flamingo Room, also with a fabulous thatched roof, this time in a traditional Cayman style. The entire roofing used 100,000 fronds and took over 6 months to construct - no mean feat. The Flamingo Room is left open to catch the cooling breeze, but is air-conditioned when the weather dictates. Here, you can enjoy a fabulous panoramic view over the lagoon. Large prints of flamingos decorate the walls and again, wrought iron lights lend their soft glow.Beyond this room lies a third eating area, the Garden Patio, a large screened- in porch where diners eat al fresco during the cooler winter months. This also has a magnificent lagoon view and Pappagallo usually caters for large parties & weddings here.

Weather wise, the week has been pretty bad. Dinner at Ristorante Pappagallo offered a respite from the non-stop winds and crashing surf in West Bay. A quiet, serene oasis in the mangroves with fabulous food (lion fish ceviche, duck ravioli, black grouper, lobster and shrimp,
Lava cake and more...) and wine and service to match. Their house made
lemoncello was the perfect ending to a wonderful meal. Didn’t see the parrot-
perhaps he was hibernating due to the weather!

We arrived at this beautiful location. We enjoyed cocktails before dinner and then an absolutely delicious dinner. The staff was helpful in choosing the best entree and don’t forget to say goodby to the parrot when you leave.

Our group of 13 visited Pappagallo's on a January evening and everyone in our party couldn't stop raving about this Italian gem tucked away on the edge of West Bay. Our authentic Italian waiter Gerardo was friendly, funny and wicked fast. Although he was juggling another very large table, as well as a couple of smaller ones, we never noticed.
He provided excellent advise on our wine selection from the extensive offering, and we decided on the La Rasina. Appetizers were ordered for the table and we all shared samples of the Calamari, Octopus, Lion Fish, and Carpaccio. All appetizers were well presented and delicious.
The table placed their dinner orders and everyone found something to their liking. Gerardo managed to keep all water glasses, as well as wine glasses topped off.
Bread baskets had a varied selection and bread was served warm.
When our entrees arrived, each dish was beautiful in presentation and had us all wondering what each other had ordered. We all wanted to sample what others had ordered and it was fun trade bites of different entrees. I myself had ordered the Pumpkin and Amaretto Ravioli, and I have to say it was the best ravioli I have EVER been served. The table had orders of Grouper, Chilean Sea Bass, CAB Tenderloin, CAB Ribeye, Smoked Burrata, Sword Fish and Lion Fish, and Snapper. All plates were sent back empty, and we finally found a restaurant in Grand Cayman who knew how to properly cook a steak.
A visit to our table by owner Vico Testori to ensure everything was to our satisfaction solidified our high praise to Ristorante Pappagallo, waiter Gerardo, staff, ambiance, and food.
Thank you Vico and Gerardo for providing a taste of Italy in Grand Cayman.

I ordered the spaghetti it came with a lobster tomato sauce it was absolutely fantastic. Service was a bit slow but it was very busy and didn't take to much away from the meal. Location is very nice right on the water.
