Very sad to see what happened to this property in the hurricane. Traveled with friends beforehand. Overall, an incredible property, especially given how easy it is to reach from the US mainland.

-Immaculate grounds and design including the pool and restaurant; hotel is designed to largely sit back in the foliage, so if swimming in the ocean and looking back, you see very little of the resort
-Very secluded, including a long private beach
-Good SPG recognition concerning upgrades
-Large pool with unique layout
-Butler service that went above and beyond any I've seen in the brand elsewhere

-A bit of a drive from the airport -- you drive through a somewhat downtrodden area right next to the resort
-Exorbitant drink prices - but that is standard
-The water was not crystal clear like other parts of the island . . but that may be seasonal
-Brown sand beach vs. white
-A number of families with children at the pool -- depending on who you are that could be a pro or a con

All that said, a fantastic beach property.

Went here in August before the hurricane (I really hope they can reopen soon) with my wife for our anniversary. I was looking for some place outside of the busy confines of San Juan. The St. Regis Bahia resort was the perfect escape.

The grounds are amazing. You get a the feeling that you're in a jungle and it opens up to a secluded beach. The resort was meticulously built to provide such a feeling. You knew there were plenty of people around but never felt too crowded by other vacationers.

We had a suite on the 2nd floor of one of the buildings. It overlooked the beach with a nice size balcony. The bedroom and walk-in closet were more than enough room. The star of the show was the bathroom though. I'm a platinum member with Marriott/SPG and have stayed in plenty of hotels. This was the best bathroom I've ever seen. It was huge and had the best shower and tub a person could ask for. Felt like royalty.

The restaurants were very nice. Our favorite part was the breakfast. We sat out on the veranda every morning and the wait staff took excellent care of us. The buffet and the menu food were both excellent. When in this part of the world, you look forward to fresh fruit and exotic fruit juices.

What really made our trip special was the staff. The concierge, bartenders, wait staff, valets, golf cart drivers, beach assistants, room service....etc were of the finest quality. We both felt so pampered and everyone was quite friendly. We chatted up the people of St. Regis Bahia quite a bit.

I really hope Puerto Rico can recover soon. This is a wonderful island with great people. Please donate if you haven't done so already!

This place is magical. It is a beautiful luxury resort. Wonderful amenities, room are big, they exceed in comfort, space, cleanliness, friendliness of staff. Very Respectful staff. Food is delicious, restaurant ambience superb and the spa......ohh the spa..... We spend a weekend for a local MD;s convention and it was just perfect. We even had a food truck fest under the starts. Good for families, couples retreat. They are closed now temporarily after Hurricane Maria passing for PR.

Grounds are beautiful, resort is well out and the rooms are incredible. Staff is extremely accommodating. The selection of restaurants & food selection in the restaurants is limited. The prices for food & drinks are astronomical. 6 Margaritas at the Beach for $120 before trip, $130 for Buffet Brunch with 2 Bloody Mary's before tip, etc.

The resort is also a very long way from anything, so you are really trapped there to contend with a mediocre selection. Believe it or not, it was cheaper to drink from the minibar in the room than at the bars on the resort. Also, check you minibar bill carefully, mine was 2x what it should have been!

The beach is nice but is very close to the mouth of a river so the water becomes very at certain tides or if it rains in the mountains, Jut not the clear, blue water that you would expect.

The majority of the rooms here have a garden view not an ocean view.

We went for a quick anniversary trip last year, and I just wanted to say I hope they didn’t suffer too much damage to their beautiful property. It’s a lovely hotel, and the service, food, rooms, everything were outstanding. Yes, it was expensive and there were bad mosquitos...I will still go back when they are recovered as son s I can find time!
