Our family (2 children and 2 adults) stayed at the Chalet for one week in July of 2014. The Chalet was well equipped as advertised. Arthur was easy to contact from the states and once we got to PR we were able to call or text him. He provided helpful tips about traveling to the Chalet as well as where to purchase groceries. The Chalet was beautiful and well maintained.
Our favorite things were the front porch, pool, and fruit. We ate, relaxed, read, and watched the wildlife from the porch while the island breezes blew. The views were magnificent. The posted pictures tell the truth. We could also watch our children swim in the pool from the porch. Although it was shared we usually had the pool to ourselves. Mangoes were in season while we were there and we enjoyed them in many different ways, mango pina coladas, mango jelly, and fresh. We had hoped to find ripe bananas but they weren't in season yet. We explored the grounds and found many different exotic fruits and plants.
Overall the Wifi was good but when we were trying to stream during peak times it was sometimes interrupted.
Arthur met us when we arrived and told us about the property, noting the things that were unique to living in PR. The Chalet had a helpful notebook that shared important information about the area, places to eat, and things that we could do. Don't miss the bakery at the end of the one mountain roads. We didn't get there til the next to last night and we returned the next day. They were super friendly and had great food. Try the Cuban and some sweet bread.
We didn't make it to the beach but everything was provided if we had wanted to go: beach chairs, beach towels, coolers, floaties, beach toys, etc. We did go hiking in the rain forest and were able to pack a cooler to take with us.
This was a favorite vacation and I hope we can return again. A year later our children are still talking about it.

We enjoyed our stay at the El Yunque Chalet for a week in March. The owner was extremely laid back - no problems with our delayed flights, couldn't be easier to deal with. The place was clean and well-equipped with the expected amenities, they have guide books and lots of information on things to do. It is basic, don' expect marble. It's true charm lies lies in the outdoor space. From the chalet, you can walk into the rainforest and go for a hike to a waterfall. There are plenty of tropical trees on the property, although we did not have the luck to have ripe fruit on branches when we were there. The view was very pleasant - we ate dinner outside, and hung out by the pool with a hillside view of the Ocean at a distance. The drive to the chalet is on narrow, winding mountain roads and traffic on the highways near San Juan can be daunting.
This is a our second year at the Chalet. We love everything about it - the location and amenities. It is great for us as we are two families traveling together. We had the entire compound to ourselves. It is soooo much more relaxing than a huge resort! I hate to say to much good as I don't want to compete with all of you next year for our getaway. Arthur is very gracious and helpful.
