Enjoyed talking with the Dutch owner. Very attractive dining area (we did not stay here, just came for dinner). Large menu served quickly with choices for everyone. Ceviche was good. A little off the beaten path.

We were all satisfied after our visit to Mundo Milo, we were happy with the service provided, the owners are friendly and happy to help. In terms of food we would give a rating of good (3.5 in TA terms), the food tasted good and was carefully prepared. It's a place one can trust when visiting the area.

I've been here several times and the daily special has yet to disappoint. The menu has a lot of items that you don't see elsewhere in Costa RIca. So if you've had your fill of arroz con pollo might be a nice place to visit. The eating area is open on three sides and a bit away from the main road so there is no problems with dust in the dry season. If you still have room for dessert the homemade ice cream and the fruit mouses are delicious.

We spent a week at Mundo Milo, in one of the Persian Rooms (aka Cabina 4). A warm welcome greeted us from Leike & Michiel and a cool home made lemonade. We were then shown to our room, with info to help us settle in and in no time we were unpacked and enjoying our new jungle surroundings. Always good after a long journey. The open sided bar & restaurant are chamingly rustic and the choice of food and beverages impressive for a small Lodge. The restaurant is popular with outside diners too, so there were usually new faces of an evening. Breakfasts were leisurely with limited choice, but good & freshly made. During the day the Lodge is very quiet, but lunch can be ordered from a smaller menu and there is always someone on hand to serve from the bar. Prices are very keen with service being left to your discretion, which we settled at the end of our 7 day stay, as we had been well looked after. The attractive pool is deceptively big, allowing for a reasonable swim. Excellent for cooling down in the tropical heat. The Eco Lodge has the most amazing lush surroundings, perfect for attracting howler monkeys, birds and other wildlife. We were greeted by an entire troop of Howler monkeys including Mothers with babies, moving through on a few occasions, which was marvellous. You could even sit on the room porch and easily view them. I would say at this point that mosquitos were the only bug bare. Bring heavy duty repellant, or buy some locally, plus plug in mosi burners for the room. These were vital for a relaxed nights sleep. (Aircon was great). I also bought citrus tealights for the outside seating area, but they were largely ineffectual. Sitting outside our lodge sadly became impossible due to the mosis and bugs (to be expected however as you are in the jungle). Junquillal has a lot to offer if you enjoy getting off the beaten track. A short hot walk away is Junquillal beach which was amazing. Virtually empty most of the time but great for long walks and rock pooling. There was also a most welcome cooling breeze. Swimming not so easy, as the currents and waves are strong. Local dogs, all types of breeds, joined us most days for our walk and they were so laid back & friendly. Pelicans & Frigate birds soared stunningly in formation overhead. Wildlife is also abundant in the hedgerows, undergrowth and on the over head wires. Keep an eye out for large Iguanas. For a change of scene and a welcome cooling drink & lunch try the Guacamaya Lodge a short walk away, on the main road up from the beach. It is signposted.

Mundo Milo was a fabulous experience, made more so by Leike & Michiel who are fabulous hosts. Offering advice on things to do in the area and always happy to join you over meals for a chat. You really do leave feeling your custom and company has been appreciated. You can't possibly beat the price either. Travelling up to higher priced Tamarindo the following week bought that home even more.

We did not hire a car, choosing a more leisurely holiday approach. Transfers were organised via TVP from/to the airport in air conditioned mini buses. Lieke did however, organise a local driver to take us to Lola's beach bar, a 25 minute drive away, which was a considerably cheaper way to travel and an experience. (See separate review of Lola's).

We will have many happy memories of our stay for many years to come... One of which was meeting Deppy, an orphaned baby squirrel that Leike & Michiel were hand rearing. You just never know what you'll experience next. Which is what holidays, I feel, are all about. Do go.
