We drove from Bangalore to Yercaud and stayed for 2 nights at a Penthouse: The penthouse itself was fab! The room had a balcony looking out into Salem town - and the view was spectacular in the evenings when the city was lit up. The bathroom was huuge with a jacuzzi (great one!) and a shower that had rain shower and jacuzzi settings as well.
The resort has a nice infinity pool (didn't swim but looked good); Also has a nice children's play area; A few indoor games like table tennis and carrom. Has a library and a collection of movies as well.
The room service was great and staff very courteous. The food we ordered through room service was very good (especially non-veg).

The not so good part: Very mediocre breakfast; Jacuzzi had a 'massage' setting which we tried only once and then shut off immediately because the water that came out smelt unclean! No bottle of bubble bath kept for jacuzzi - had to make do with bottles of shampoo. Also, the hotel provided a card for internet access for free - however, it wasn't of much use because the wireless connection itself was not strong.

Overall, a nice getaway when you want to do mostly nothing and laze around.

We travelled to Yercaud in May 2010 and had a wonderful stay at the GRT Nature Trails. The check-in was smooth (we had booked on their website) and the room was spacious and comfortable. The restaurant is lovely and the dinner spread was good. Though Yercaud was slightly warm at that time of the year, the mornings and evenings were cool.

Yercaud is atpp a small hillock with very few decent places to stay. We were just driving around the last hairpin bend into yercaud when this hotel popped up. Curious just drove in down the slope and there it was a magnificent little hotel with neo-modern style. It has a cute water lift which takes forever :) but cool. The room we were shown into was a executive double. IT does get warm in yercaud even in winter. However, the nights are pretty cool. The rooms have huge balconies overlooking the hillside. Tonnes of monkeys around so do not leave food outside. Only issue the balconies have privacy from the side but not from the top. A small canopy could have done the job. rooms are tastefully done. Bathrooms are nice. Its a new hotel from the looks of it and the hallways have nice natural touches. The walks around the hotel is pretty nice especially on the skybridge etc. The food is pretty decent and breakfast which is included in room charge is a nice spread. Its a pretty nice weekend getaway within 250 km from bangalore.

we had been to this place last week...march is not a time to visit this place as its quite hot..we enjoyed the place only between 4pm to mrning 11am. in other time..huh it was damn hot..
the grt trails resort is really good, excellent location as we can enjoy salem city view in night from the rooms..clean rooms, good service etc. Only thing that bothered us was food price! its nothing less than any five star hotel.. we reached there in afternoon and had food there..the buffet didnt have much options..the quality was average and the charge was 500 per person! the beverages also extremely charged..for instance one glass of wine was Rs 500! The breakfast was good which was complimentary(Thank god) .. dinner we decided to have it at room..we ordered simple rice, dal and a soup which came to rs 800! food is priced atleast three times more compared to other resorts like vythiri(wayanad), kurumba(conoor)...however, its the best place to stay if u are planning for a yercaud trip...
