The hotel architect has can be credited with the smart utilization of space and location. There is a terrace garden which gives the best view of the Salem city below. Each room has a private balcony and they very spacious. Perfect time for a drink. Unfortunately, the hotel doesn't yet have the permit to serve alchohol. However, you can carry your own bottle and get the snacks from the room service. Excellent parking space. Nice restuarant which serves Indian, Chinese and continental food. The hotel offers beautiful views and evenings are very pleasant during summer. Good value for money. Weekends are always booked. Therefore, it is better to plan one month in advance if you are planning a trip during the weekends and holidays...

When you drive up the Shervaroy hills to go to Yercaud, this hotel (earlier named as "The SkyRoca") springs up just about a Km or two before the lake. The location is fantastic. The hotel was built by the 'Shekar" coffee estate family and has now been leased out the GRT group.

The hotel itself has a very pleasing architecture and has a number of room types - almost all have rocky settings - giving you the impression that you may be staying in a cave. I stayed in a regular room costing < Rs 4000/- per night. Rooms are large and the toilets are neat with enough supplies.

The restaurants are quite different in that they serve food that is normally not available within 200 Kms of Yercaud. I'm not a great fan of Continental cuisine, but I do have to admit that whatever I had there was good, although pricey. As I had my car, 90% of the time (I stayed for 3 nights), I drove to Yercaud to have regular South Indian fare. It takes hardly 5 minutes to other good south Indian outlets.

The terrace of the property is another place to spend the evenings. The views, once again, are magnificent. And then, there's the famous "SKYWALK" - made completely out of glass and you're supposed to walk on top of it. Beware! if the glass cracks, you fall the mountain depths below - but hey! that's really not going to happen - which gives you all the thrill. There are plenty of videos about this Skywalk on Youtube.

We played TT. The pool table was not ready at that time, and there's no swimming pool. There's a small collection of books to pass time and there are bicycles for hire for the kids.
We had some problem with the hot water, but they set it right within 30 minutes (not within 10 as you would imagine).

In the end, I liked the stay a lot. I have already recommended a stay to my friends.

Place:
Yercaud itself is a small place to lazy around- at least to me. I agree there are few places to visit- A temple, the lake, some points (Pagoda etc.) and some seat (Lady’s, Children, Gents).... but we preferred to stay at our rooms and view the clouds attacking our hilltop. (For those who do not know, the ’seats’ are nothing but view-points.

Hotel:
The hotel was very easily located.. by its address itself.. it is just after the last (the 20th) hairpin bend. Front desk was courteous and gladly extended their cooperation when I wanted to see their special rooms with private lawns/ glass walls/ glass floors! http://hoteltheskyroca.com/ Yes, booking is recommended. I had booked through travelguru.

It has a Library + Playcorner + Browser. Best thing I liked is the Skywalk- see their website to get a feel. They also had arrange a lot of crackers for us the guests.

Even our low-end room was pretty good, large for our 2.5 member family! It also had a DVD player attached to the TV. (No, we didn’t use it) Like all other rooms, it offered unobstructive view to Salem. We really wanted to spent most of our time lazying in the hotel.

Food:
But our attempt to have lunch was not so satisfying. The items were more or less average, if not lower. They were not worth the value of money. Definitely, they need to work on the cook.

The staff was very kind to accommodate our 7 yr. old into our quota of dish during all (twice) our visits to the restaurant. But, this was not motivating enough for us to look for better food elsewhere in the town.

Service:
Very good. Of course, if you are familiar to Indian hotels, this one requires less push to get the things done.

Finally...
Would definitely recommend this to family travellers. If the food does not suit you (I have seen some reviews where people are satisfied with it), go to the town and have a look.

The Sky Roca resort is the latest of property to be added to the Scenic town of Yercaud. It has been done up quite well and is very beautiful and tidy. The rooms are very spacious and every room has a view of the Salem city below. It is tastefully done with almost everything one need and more on a holiday.
The staff is so well trained, polite and always smiling. The entire resort, in general, has been built thoughtfully and beautifully.
My Room was specially beautiful and very private. It had a glass flooring inside wherein you can see the cliff below you making you feel you are in the sky specially when the moving clouds and fog encompasses the entire room.
The open terrace on top as well as the Skywalk are interesting attractions for the resort. Walking on the glass floored Skywalk at night was exciting!
The room prices at the resort are reasonable - considering the services offered.

SKY ROCA has nothing close to it for comparison in yercaud

I regret I have spent here only 1 night! The Sky Roca Hotel is something that you are absolutely unexpected to find in a small and unspoilt hill station as Yercaud! The room was spectacular, and I enjoyed al the amenities supplied. I soaked in the sun in my private terrace, delighting my eyes with the breathtaking view over the valley and the adjoined hills covered by coffee plantations. The experienced staff was kind and helpful. The estaurant serves a superb choice of food and drinks. The rental rates Rs 2500 about €5 are more than adequate to the standard they offer.
I have found everything impeccable at The Sky Roca but above all I've been captured by the beatyness of the sight.
I recommand strongly this hotel and I suggest to plan a stay longer than mine!!
