Slipway is a lovely place to stay for a relaxing holiday near the beach. Jeff (the owner) couldn't do enough for us. The house was spotless and Jeff seemed to have thought of everything. The wetsuit wash area is a godsend when you get back from a good day's surfing on the fantastic beach. No need to even cross a road on the way to the beach which makes it great for children. My two (9 and 12) loved it and we have already enquired in to booking slipway for 2016.

Ok the important things... the house is immaculate and very well equipped, the shower is hot, the bath is big, the area is quiet, the beach is close and the beds are comfortable!

Jeff (host) was very friendly and very eager to make sure that your stay is as comfortable as possible and i was amazed at how much thought he had put into everything.

Cannot fault anything

“Everything you could need.”

What a find this place was. It has all you could need for a relaxing Cornish holiday. We were met on arrival by Jeff the owner and shown around. As mentioned by others a welcome pack of Cornish cream tea and clotted cream toffee were very much appreciated after a long journey, as we're the tea and coffee provided.
The location of the cottage is perfect, a waterside position on the quaint little harbour, central to the vilage with a 200 metre walk to the general store and bakery (fresh baked bread every morning) and a 2 minute walk to Portreath's lovely beach.
Jeff has obviously worked very hard to make this place a clean, comfortable, and well furnished and stocked holiday home. Lots of holiday information was provided, as was a good selection of dvd's and books if you needed them.
I cannot recommend this cottage enough, it felt more like a home than a holiday cottage and would like to say thank you to Jeff for everything he did for us during our holiday, way above and beyond what was expected.

Jeff, the owner was extremely helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. We were met on arrival, a pretty wild and windy evening, with the burner lit - very welcoming. We wanted for nothing during our stay. The property was spotlessly clean and extremely well equipped.
The harbour proved a great hit for both crabbing and fishing. Husband and son caught a good size seabass despite the presence of a seal!
The sandy beach and rock pools provided lots more entertainment. A great time had by all. Thank you Jeff.

It was a real pleasure to have you all stay & nice to know I'm basically getting things right!
Yes Portreath is a good location & the beach & historic harbour an added bonus. West Cornwall has so much to offer & when the weather holds up it's just makes your perfect Cornish cream tea:)
Many thanks & I'll certainly advise my future wannabe angler guests to forget digging for ragworms & use bacon instead!JH

“Good location, great facilities, wonderful welcome.”

On arrival we were given a warm welcome, and a selection of 'goodies' (biscuits, fudge, wine.....) by Jeff Hastings (the owner of Slipway Cottage). He had also kindly put some basic food items in the cupboard (as we planned a late arrival) incase the shops were shut, so that we, and the children, could at least have a meal if needed. He showed us the layout and facilites in the house that are both comfortable and of a very good standard throughout. There is a patio area at the front of the property where you can sit, have a coffee a also have a great view.

The beach is a few minutes walk away and is fantastic for the children to play on. Close to the beach are toilet facilities, beach hire shops (surf boards etc), cafeteria, and have lifeguards in attendance. The one side of the beach has rock pools, the other caves to explore, both visible at low tide.

There are enough restaurants and bars in walking distance (1 to 2 minutes) so you can have a different choice of menu every night and each serve a good Cornish ale!

The shops are just around the corner (Costcutter, bakery, cafe....) so all your needs are close at hand.

The location of Portreath make it ideal a a base to travel to other attractions in Cornwall (Eden project, St Ives etc), and also has walking & cycle routes. Cycle hire is available close by.

“Fantastic Holiday Find”

Jeff, the owner has really made this cottage a home from home and has given a lot of thought to what you want in a stay including the welcoming cream tea on arrival.
The cottage was clean, comfortable and extremely well equipped including the wifi to keep the kids happy.
The view of the harbour right outside was fantastic and the two minute walk to the life guarded beach is a real bonus.
The location is very central with Penzance, Gweek, St Ives, Falmouth and Truro all within an hour's drive so plenty else to do.
All in all great Cornish hospitality!
