“A fantastic location”
Reviewed 18 June 2017 for a stay in May 2017

A fantastic location, a welcoming owner and a well equipped home with everything our family needed. We would highly recommend slipway cottage if you're looking for a base in Cornwall to go out exploring but then to also spend time locally enjoying the beach and harbour view.
We all had a brilliant holiday.

“An excellent place to escape from the daily grind”
Reviewed 8 October 2016 for a stay in September 2016

Slipway cottage was a delight. Right on the harbour with wonderful views and close to the handy Costcutter shop and café- perfect for a leisurely stroll round quaint Portreath and a hearty breakfast to round it off. The cottage had every amenity you could wish for, all laid out beautifully. It was exceptionally spacious and nicely decorated. Jeff had made the garden area into a haven for those wishing to swim and surf with areas to wash and dry wetsuits etc. It was heavenly to sit out there for our evening meals as it was such a pretty suntrap. There was nothing lacking, the cottage even had Wi-Fi and a comfortable area to sit with your laptop. There were many leaflets to advise of what this spectacular area of Cornwall had to offer and recommendations for eating out. We also found a huge supply of games, dvds and books to entertain different age groups. We loved it and would definitely return to Slipway Cottage. This is a wonderful holiday home from home that we would certainly recommend to family and friends.

Dear Tracy, I'm very happy to hear you had a nice relaxing time @ Slipway Cottage & enjoyed all the practical little touches I endeavour to provide for my visiting guests.Glad you had some good summer weather it makes all the difference to get out & about & indeed dine al fresco on the sunny rear decking! I also like Portreath village, it's usually very quiet in the evenings & has most of the amenities one could need on a daily basis despite being tucked away on the north coast!
Thank you for the kind review it is much appreciated....maybe see you again one day!

Lovely cottage in a superb location, Jeff the owner is such a nice person an has covered for all needs in this property, we are a family of 5 an 5 week old baby.

We had forgotten to pack kids wetsuits so Jeff the owner dropped a load of wetsuits at house an was perfect fit for children.

The cottage is right next to a beautiful beach perfect for body boarding and surfing.

Thanks from all of us Jeff

“Slipway Cottage was a very good choice”
Reviewed 28 July 2016 for a stay in July 2016

We spent 10 absolutely lovely days an Slipway Cottage . Coming from Germany we didn't want to have too much baggage , so Slipway was perfect. It provides absolutely everything we needed for a perfect holiday. The little house on the harbour was perfect. It is comfortable, clean and has everything you need for five people. The Backyard done by Jeffrey, the owner himself, is super to relax and enjoy the sun and peace. The decked patio is great too eat outside, which we did every day because the weather was so lovely. The nearby beach is super and nice sandy beach. There's lots to see nearby. Jeffrey went out of his way to make it a problem free holiday. Thanks, Jeffrey.

As regular visitors to Cornwall we have satyed in various locations but never Portreath, looking around we found Slipway Cottage and decided to give it a go.
Best idea ever! We had the best stay, peaceful, comfortable and cozy, it was cold weather when we arrived, but after being met and shown around by Jeff we got a fire going in the wood burning stove and all was well with the world!
It's a lovely place, much bigger inside than you would think, it is a 2 minute walk to the beach, the harbour is right outside the door.
The back garden area is a sun trap and great for drying the washing!
Lots to see when you are here, the road to Hayle from Portreath is a stunning drive. and the road from St Ives to St Just past the mines is one of the best roads to drive in the country, drive it from St Ives to St Just for the best views.

If you are thinking about staying here, do it! the place is spotless and Jeff is great to deal with.

“Fantastic family holiday”

We had a fantastic two week stay in Slipway Cottage. This was our first stay in Slipway Cottage but our third in Portreath. I can't recommed Slipway Cottage and Portreath enough. The cottage was perfect for our young family - safe and comfortable and spotlessly clean. We had everything we needed. Jeff met us at the property and showed us around. He messaged us during the holiday to check that everything was OK and whether we needed anything.

The cottage looks over the ever changing harbour. We enjoyed walks round the harbour and crabbing just outside the cottage. The beautiful beach is a few seconds level walk away (other than a few steps over the harbour wall) The beach is amazing. It is sandy and has a stream running through it providing hours of paddling and digging for the children. There are rockpools and caves to explore during low tide as well as a small tidal pool. My children enjoyed body boarding and the beach is RNLI patrolled.

There is a friendly and good value beach cafe that over looks the beach - they also run the ice cream Kiosk. There's also a well stocked beach shop, supermarket and bakery all in a few paces from the cottage. There are two pubs a few paces away but the cottage was always quiet and we never heard any noise.

We really liked the wetsuit tub and hose in the garden so that we could rinse our feet after a day at the beach before going into the house. Portreath is breathtakingly beautiful, friendly and practical for young children - we love it! Porthtowan, Trevaunace Cove and Carbis Bay are all breathtaking beaches nearby. We would also recommend St Michal Mounts, Kynance Cove, Minnack Theatre, Godolphin Gardens, Dairyland and Lappa Valley Steam Railway for family days out.

Dear Lyn, I'm always happy to hear from my guests that they enjoyed their valuable vacation time not only at Slipway Cottage but also in Portreath & indeed further afield in the west of Cornwall. With so many beautiful & interesting places to visit & experience....although tucked away on the north coast, Portreath is actually quite central for touring around.
Many thanks for the smashing property review & personal recommendations for visitor attractions both natural & commercial!
Hopefully see you all again one day!
