Chateau Royale Hotel Resort and Spa
Ranked #3 of 4 Hotels in Nasugbu
Reviewed 15 November 2017

My family had a 3D2N stay in Chateau Royale last weekend. Our weekend family getaway was indeed a brief escape from the busy and crowded city life (Manila).

The resort is a nice place with huge area to explore, including the swimming pools, gardens, playground, (soccer) field, among others. My child enjoyed the small swimming pool (located at the reception building) as well as the playground. Both need repairs: a portion of the swimming pool slide is not available for use and the playground definitely needs renovation since the slides, swings, and other amenities are already rusty and have some broken parts.

The rooms, living area, kitchen and comfort room are spacious with AC working well. The beds, pillows, linens and towels are also clean, soft and relatively new. However, general cleanliness may still be improved as the headboards have some dusts, visible when you turn on the headboard lights. The comfort room does not have bath rugs and the toilet bowl is not so clean. Hot water is only available in the shower (not the faucets) and the water pressure is weak.

There are also some portions of the walls and fixtures that are chipped off. The floor already have much scratches, probably due to the age of the building.

The buffet breakfast has very limited choices and many of the dishes in the floating restaurant are not available. No room service also.

The staff are generally helpful and respond promptly to requests.

WIFI/Internet connection is relatively fast.

I think the resort is practically priced. Families will enjoy more staying here if service is improved.

The hotel is miserable when it comes to food. The menu has a lot of choices but only a few dishes are available so you cannot eat your choice of food. You are limited to what is left in the kitchen. One time, we attempted to have lunch in the Asian Restaurant but the only dish that they have is pork. Fish, beef and chicken dishes are nil. Another time, we went to the Floating Restaurant as we were told in advance that we can be accommodated if we will be there by 6:00 P.M. but even if we arrived 6 PM sharp, we were told that the restaurant is reserved for La Salle students who were also billeted there and we were turned away despite being advised that we can be served dinner. This happened on my wife's birthday. Their food is bad.

Accommodation wise, the linens are like those used in hospitals. There is no fitted sheet to cover the mattress. We immediately requested for a linen change as our bed cover is dirty/soiled. My wife took pictures of what appear to be mud in the bedsheet. Maybe, the linens were not changed after the previous occupant/s left. The room is dirty with debris from the broom.

Most of the listed amenities are absent/not functioning.

There is no wifi service and no internet signal.

The place looks old and needs total makeover. Management should closely supervise day-to-day operations if they want the place to be competitive.

Will definitely NOT recommend this place to anyone and the name Royale is a misnomer. Chateau ala Pobre is more appropriate.

By the way, we checked out a day earlier as we deemed the place totally lacking and unsatusfactory.

The room was big and spacious but quite expensive. We stayed in the tower. The building was bare. And the atmosphere seem to be sad. Also, you have to call the front desk so that your water and toiletries will be replenished. Also, signal was weak and at times is lost.

But the view of the whole compound was wonderful. The place is best for family gathering and outing.

Overnight stay with friends (couples with kids).
Check-in time took about 2 hours during the labor day weekend even with a reservation.
Though they gave us a discount.
The accommodation is quite spacious. Extra mattress were provided. Relatively clean, though there are some dust here and there.
Pets are allowed but you have to be responsible in cleaning up after them.
We reserved for a dinner at 7pm and was accommodated at 8pm, served food between 830-9pm.
We were already super hungry and was ready to buy a food outside during the first 30mins when we were waiting. But we always follow up and was repeatedly told that we will be served in a few minutes.
The restaurant was clearly mismanaged and the servers are lax.
This property has so much potential but needs major improvement on management. The owners should invest more on trainings/seminars and to hire more employees.
The swimming pools are great for kids and adults.
We also enjoyed the zip line.
The bar who operates the sound system should have more songs on their playlist. There were like 3 songs on repeat the entire time we were swimming.
The food at the restaurant near the lobby and kiddie pool serves good food if ala carte.
Breakfast buffet was so so as per my friends.

Please please improve! So much potential here.

The area is huge and there are different types of accommodation according to your budget and preference.

Would recommend because of the accommodation but not the floating restaurant.

We stayed here during the long National Heroes Day weekend. Booked the room through Agoda,

Their website lists amenities such as wave pools and spas. Unfortunately most of the amenities are lacking and some are not working.

Check in was a breeze. Arrived at 3 PM and was checked in immediately. Their rooms are located to the right of the main reception area. You can park there or get somebody to take you there via golf cart.

Their rooms are a bit dated. There are chipped paints and the first floor of the Skylight was under renovation. Hallways to the rooms feel like waling in a hospital hallway. Rooms don't have mini bars and the hot water thermos wasn't working. Shower water pressure was pretty bad. No wifi since they said that PLDT is fixing their lines. You cannot connect to room service either. The DOWN button of the elevator is not working. You would have to press the UP button to go down

Food is not good. We ate at their 3 restaurants and food is bad. We first ate at Don Jose at food served is bland. Asian Orchid Grill is the same. Food in floating restaurant is the baddest of them all. We ordered their grilled tilapia and was served spoiled fish. We got the attention of the waiter and no apologies whatsoever. After those experiences, we just decided to eat in Tagaytay. Buffet breakfast quality is equally bad.

The advertise that they have a spa but it is a wreck. The spa indoor pool which was supposed to be warm water is ice cold. Shower rooms are still being constructed and not painted at all.

If you're place is under maintenance, it is advisable to close it down and reopen instead of milking people for money. Bad stay in this so called hotel.

Spent 3D2N here. Staff were friendly and helpful. Checkin was painless but a little slow and then it's a cart ride to the accommodation. This place is Big!. There is a shuttle to and from the main building and the accommodation, but we just used our car. The rooms were massive and the air conditioning ample. We rented 3 rooms - 2 double and 1 family room. The cable tv wasn't working in both double rooms but easily self fixed - 1 was mis wired and the other simply on the wrong input. Showers took longer than normal as is the case trying to rinse off the soap under a mere trickle of water (hot from the inline heater)

Ate at the floating restaurant despite reading bad reviews and I have to say the reviews didn't do it justice! It's worse than you think! It's easily the worst food I have ever tasted in my 4 years of living in Philippines. If you don't believe me, order the buffalo wings - I challenge you to even recognise that as chicken! It's certainly fowl! They clearly have not bother to hire a chef - an absolute disgrace for a place like the Chateau.

Rooms were quiet enough overnight and woke with the expected painful backache after spending the night on such a hard bed.

Kids had a great time in the pool and I enjoyed the soft drinking while watching them except they could only provide 15% of the choice of drinks listed on the menu - do they even have a F&B director - I think not!

Would I go back? Yes - without hesitation - would I eat there - NEVER AGAIN! Found a great restaurant 10 minutes up the road called Wild Juan - some of the nicest food I've had in 4 years!

Quiet, relaxing and complete resort type hotel. We felt like we're in an island. Exceptionally polite and helpful hotel personnel, from security, to front-desk, utilities, restaurants and facilities. They have huge pools for kids and adults, and our favorite is the wave pool. Other facilities are zipline, rock climbing, obstacle course, aviary, enclosed orchids garden, children's playground, and SPA services. Breakfast choices, presentation and tastes are suitable for it's price. It's The F&B Manager/Officer in the newly opened restaurant "Asian Grill" is so accommodating. He will greet you with a smile, asks every table if there's anything they need, and seems he really loves what he's doing. Located around 4kms. from the Nasugbu arc (from Tagaytay). We'll definitely come back!
