We could not have had a warmer welcome. In spite of being in the middle of a function Patrick took time to greet us, show us to our room and explain the need to keep our keys with us.
Our first night was a "Special Roast" which was excellant. The full menu gives a wide choice and the food is beautifully cooked and presented,
Our room was lovely, what a comfortable bed and how nice to find arm chairs and large fluffy towels. As returning Devonians it was great to revisit an "old watering hole" and not be disappointed.

My brother and I spent 4 nights here at the end of September, what a lovely place to stay in a quaint little village and lovely accommodation. Patrick and Linda could not do enough for us and nothing was to much trouble, after being shown to our rooms we had a drink in the bar then had a nice walk around the village. Dinner was nicely cooked and well presented. A good hearty breakfast to set us up for the next day. Val the waitress/housekeeper was lovely and full local information about the village. I had a rare treat by meeting Lennon and McCartney, Linda and Patricks two Bengal cats! Thank you both for a lovely stay, looking forward to coming back in March.

Room Tip: My brother had The Linney which is situated at the back, it has two lovely garden chairs by the door...

Stayed in August and notwithstanding a minor problem of being locked out at night (should have taken room key with us) we had a really nice stay. Staff try very hard to please and accomodate. Rooms are quaint as you would expect in this type hotel. Bathroom and bedroom spotless. Country location is terrific. Can only concurr with the other positive reports. We will be back and hopefully soon.

What a find! The location was fantastic. The welcome very warm as if we were old friends. The room was perfect overlooking the main square. The food was first class. The choice of wine.... I could go on but we have travelled and stayed in many places in this country and abroad and I can say that the Durant Arms is a beacon in a sea of mediocrity. The owners Michael, Patrick and Linda along with the rest of the team (Val especially) are committed to providing the best and they do it by the bucketload. I could be selfish and not recommend this place only because that it may become so popular that we can't go back! But on a serious note this is one of the top three hotels we have ever stayed in. The quality of the service is what I would call John Lewis standard. Go back again? Damn right we will!!!!

We stayed here for three nights this week, and have to say that not only can we recommend the inn but we intend to return for another visit as soon as we can. A really attractive village with this delightful inn at its centre. The owners were so helpful and friendly that it was a real pleasure to be there, and the food was good as well!!

Room Tip: We stayed in the coach house which gives a good view of the village square

We have been coming for short breaks to the Durant Arms, on and off for about 8 years. It is the perfect location ina small vilage, just 3 miles or so outside Totnes. Great for walking, touring, cycling. Sharpham Estate (vinyard and cheesery) is just 1 mile down the road. Great place to walk to. Hotel itself has 7 comfortable, individual rooms and a great kitchen.
