Stopped off on the way from Te Anau to Dunedin. Looked ok from the outside as I like the idea of the old fashioned style tearooms. That was it. Asked for a vegetarian pie which was then heated in the microwave, presented with no garnish, just thrown on the plate. Coffee (flat white) was weak. The carrot cake tasted & looked like it was made out from a packet mix. The staff member serving, while polite, struggled with English. Disappointing that this is the impression tourists have of a typical New Zealand country cafe.

We (me and a mate) were heading to the Gore area for a weeks fishing. We stopped here en route for a coffee, bite to eat and a comfort break. Friendly and polite staff, clean and well kept café and a nice menu. I had a pie, my mate had a cake and we both had coffee. All very good and well priced. Parking available right outside and a supermarket/bottle shop right across the road selling food and drink to help us stock up on supplies. Thanks guys, see you next time!!

This place was such a wonderful surprise that we stumbled upon based on the free WiFi sign we noticed in the window on a cold-rainy day. But after a perfectly made Cappuccino, we decided to treat ourselves to some curry and carrot cake. The chicken tikka masala was absolutely delicious, one of the best I have EVER had and the carrot cake was moist and spiced perfectly. Amueha the lady working behind the counter, was absolutely delightful. Her beautiful smile and hospitality was heart warming.

We left Buzz Cafe with a few online tasks completed, warm toes and very full and happy bellies!! Don’t miss out on this hidden gem.

Also contrary to what is says online, they are open until 8pm, except for Monday’s.
