“Thoroughly enjoyed our 4 night stay in Wisteria Cottage”

Had a lovely few days staying in Wisteria Cottage with our 2 dogs. John and Melanie were very friendly and we felt very relaxed and comfortable there. The evening sun on the patio in our own enclosed garden was the icing on the cake. Great to investigate the pubs recommended by the owners and driving over to Lynton and also to Woolacombe Beach. Beautiful countryside.

“Peaceful Cottage in great Exmoor Village”
Reviewed March 27, 2015 for a stay in March 2015

The owners are delightful and very welcoming. With the Black Venus just 2 minutes away with excellent food there is little need to self-cater. The village shop is close to the pub. The cottage is fitted out beautifully with a good sized garden and very relaxing surroundings. Would certainly hope to go again.

“Peaceful”
Reviewed March 19, 2015 for a stay in March 2015

We have just stayed for a weekend break at Wisteria Cottage. It is comfortable & clean with all the facilities that you need.
John introduced himself to us & checked that we had everything & advised on local places to visit.
We only cooked breakfast in the cottage & had evening meals at the Black Venus, which we couldn't fault. We bought all we needed at the small, but well stocked local shop, where the owners were helpful & friendly & even ordered my morning paper for me.
It was lovely to see all the small birds in the garden & courtyard feeding from the bird feeders which are replenished daily by the owners, plus we saw pheasants, a pair of jays & on the way to Ilfracombe we saw a group of red kites.
At night, with no light pollution, it's lovely to sit & study the stars, but if you go for a walk in the evening be sure to take a good torch.
We had a relaxing, comfortable weekend & we hope to return.

“Perfect cottage in beautiful surroundings”
Reviewed February 17, 2015 for a stay in February 2015

We had a lovely long weekend with our dog in Wisteria cottage. When we arrived there was a welcome note on the door and everything we needed to make a cup of tea before unloading the car. Everything was perfectly clean and we immediately felt at home. Outside there is an enclosed garden which was very useful for our dog, and somewhere to sit which I am sure we would use a lot in the summer. I enjoyed watching all the different birds, even a pheasent, that came to the bird feeder in the garden which was filled every day by the owners. The grounds surrounding the cottages were lovely and we had several walks round Humphries Hill, there is also play equipment for children. We noticed how quite it was which was lovely. There is even the Black Venus pub a few yards up the lane that serves delicious food if you don't feel like cooking!! We had a very enjoyable weekend
A really lovely cottage in a perfect location and very welcoming owners.

“Excellent location and accommodation”
Reviewed February 15, 2015 for a stay in February 2015

We thought the location was excellent for visiting the surrounding area. Plenty of walks nearby if you didn't want to travel further afield. The accommodation was first class and to a high standard. Owners were on site every day and were very friendly and helpful. Village pub was 300m away and served excellent food at reasonable prices.

“An amazing get away from city life.”
Reviewed January 16, 2015 for a stay in January 2015

We arrived slightly early to find the owners John & Melanie more than happy to receive us. Upon walking into Wisteria Cottage big smiles spread across our faces, the cottage was lovely and warm, clean and fresh with all the essentials for a hot brew on a cold winters day. The highlight of the stay had to be the log burner which served as the TV for the three days we were there, sat in front of it whilst the wind howled outside drinking wine in the evening. The area surrounding the cottage was ideal, with a walk up Humphrey's hill within the grounds for the dog at the start and end of each day. Out and about there are plenty of walks Wistlandpound reservoir and Arlington Court about 10 minutes away in the car; with a handy coffee wagon serving decent lattes at only £2 a mug to drink whilst you wander slowly around the reservoir soaking up the scenery and bird song. The pub the Black Venus is literally 2 minutes up the road with friendly staff and decent food also more than happy to have dogs in whilst you sit and have a meal.
The information supplied at the cottage is extensive suggesting walks and attractions within the surrounding area, there are even details of dog sitters should you not be able to take your furry friend out for the day.
The owners John & Melanie are always cheerful they are on site each day more than happy to advise and help out as required with problems or suggestions for things to see or do.

“I have got my 2015 Holiday Booked”
Reviewed December 30, 2014 for a stay in June 2014

Many years ago, I said I would never stay at one holiday place for more than two years. After all whats left to do. Well that's my New Years resolution broken, as my Son & I have booked again for 2015. Can't wait.
This is a great cottage in a great area. I count myself so lucky to have found it. Why - it's owned by such lovely people. The cottage has everything to make you relax. In a wonderful area with walks in every direction from the cottage or a short car ride away. A place to eat (pub) so near. The coast is only a very short drive away.
I know when I arrive in 2015 we will be greeted like old friends not only be Melanie & John but also the village people.
Five Stars is not a higher enough rating. I know, as I have stayed every two years in lots of places.
