A great pub with all the essentials. Well worth it for dinner or a pint. You never know whom you might meet here.

We went on a Sunday night as there are few options open then. We were told it was a nice place with good food. Unfortunately, it didn't turn out that way. We arrived at 7 and waited for almost one hour for a table but that was not terribly unexpected on a Sunday. However, when I asked the bar tender for a martini cocktail, he had no idea what it was despite having several types of gin on hand. When we were shown to a table, my husband and I ordered the beef and Guinness pie and were told it was already sold out. So we ordered the roast lamb. In a country with more sheep than people one would expect a pub to know how to roast one. It came out sliced thinner than a piece of paper, utterly tasteless and cooked to death. I ordered an ale to go with dinner and was told they were out of it would not be able to ready the new cask until the following night. I asked for one in a bottle and was told they had none. And this is a pub? The waitress was beyond harried. She was apparently the only server on duty for the entire pub and her attitude reflected it; not that I blamed her under the circumstances.

We had a fine beer while we waited for a table from a good selection. The atmosphere is totally Scottish; good people, good food, well served. We could have dined here every night.

We stayed in the neighborhood for a week. We have been here 3 times. Very nice atmosphere and especially the manager. Waiting for a table, you can enjoy a wide range of beers and whiskey in the bar. The menu is relatively modest but very tasty and the prices very affordable.

Good food (although a somewhat limited choice) with a wide selection of beers & whisky. Friendly, welcoming staff
