We spotted this little place on the main plaza only after we had tried the Casa Bernardo a few doors up the street, and been turned away because we only wanted to stay one night (!?)
Glad we ended up here, as it was great - v clean, about 30 euros a room, and it has a lovely little quiet garden just round the corner where the owner (?Alfredo, v nice friendly chap, speaks excellent English) grows fruit and veg, with chickens and loads of butterflies. And a garden seat for 2 under a shady peach tree where you can read/chill out.
Alfredo also kindly let us bring our bicycles upstairs into the house overnight ( we were touring La Gomera on mountain bikes) -much appreciated.
Overall it felt more like staying in someone's house rather than a hotel/pension.
A brilliant place, if you want somewhere quiet but friendly. I had a great time, came for a couple of nights, and stayed a week. The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly. There's a kitchen, minimal because of regulations, but good enough for making hot drinks and snacks. The garden supplies fruit, salad, herbs, and another place to sit quietly. The rooms are meticulously clean and tastefully decorated. The central location is great, for shopping, walks, cafes, buses and hanging out in general. A brilliant place.
Our room was very simply furbished and the bathroom was to share but after a day of hiking, that's just what you're looking for. The shower was functioning reasonably well provided no other guests used hot water at the same time. The location of the hostel is great with a shared terrace overlooking the central square and nearby access to restaurants and supermarkets.
