We arrived and were welcomed like kings. They treated us like family! It was fantastic service and the rooms were clean and very up to Date. The food was also phenomenal. Lobster, rice, plantains, and fish! It was a great experience while in Haiti! A diamond in the rough! A must see and must visit

The staff was so friendly and great! Best destination in Haiti. The beach is beautiful and the food it great. We had lobster and fish for lunch. The staff took us on a boat ride around the island and told us the history of the island. We look forward to another visit.

We had chosen Abaka Bay Resort in celebration for my birthday and I am very happy with our experience. Ketura is an amazing manager. She always made sure we were taken care of and our needs were up to par. We also really appreciated that she checked in with us making sure we got to the airport safely from all the chaos that was happening that week. The food tasted amazing and we loved the buffet style. It was extra special the night of my birthday because we had dinner on the beach. A lot of mosquitoes so bring LOTS of bug spray. No electricity during the day or wifi in the room but that's what the beach is for! Sometimes the running water runs out but understandable. It replenishes and starts running again after a period of time. I've experienced luxury down to staying at shared hostels. Many complain about the lack of amenities but I always take in to consideration of the location and overall resources a country has. We had an amazing experience and we are grateful for the wonderful hospitality we received.

We are a doctor and a teacher who booked this “resort” as a brief reprieve from our tough professions. We have both lived and travelled in many developing countries including Haiti. Sadly we had to leave Abaka Resort after only one night despite it being prepaid (at a ridiculous sum by any standard). Buyers beware: It is not as portrayed on the internet.

We had very limited clean water to drink despite multiple attempts with the staff, the water in the room did not get turned on so washing hands or bathing or flushing toilets was limited, the “resort” was empty except for one other family yet we were placed directly next to each other in the same building, EVERY single plastic chair on the beach was broken and unable to be sat upon, the air conditioner in the bedroom did not have a remote control so could not be operated, the furnishings and interiors were beyond worn-even for a tropical humid country with limited infrastructure, and the staff was NOT helpful nor even pleasant (that is the most disturbing part, that they seemed annoyed and bored and were watching videos on their phones instead of working, and then completely disappeared after 10 pm). If the Resort was $100 USD a night (a grand extravagance for Haiti) then all of that might be ok. For more than $250 USD a night it is wholly unacceptable. I have requested a refund but have yet to get a response.

Sadly, I can not recommend this hotel at all. It is not just indifferent and broken but poses a health risk with the lack of potable water. I am well aware of how difficult it is to operate a business under conditions like the the ones in Haiti. Human kindness is free and this place lacks that. I can only hope that the management team work to correct these significant issues.

We are sorry that although we gave this guest a free upgrade to a suite they were upset that they were placed near another family who reserved a suite. The suites are all located near each other on the beach in a prime location. We are also sorry the guest didn't understand that the rate is for 2 guests including 3 meals and activities. We are sorry the guest did not see the air conditioner remote control although it is placed in a prominent location and was on the entire time. We are sorry that our guest did not speak to management about any queries but instead chose to leave the hotel without informing anyone in order to join friends staying at another hotel. We are also sorry that this guest did not acknowledge that a prompt email was sent regarding their refund request and threat of bad reviews. We are also sorry there was this discrepancy about drinking water although their suite was stocked with 4 complimentary bottles of water and the bar serves glasses and bottles of water. Water in the room was also functioning except for the first 5 minutes due to an air bubble. We are sorry this guest did not appreciate the free wine given at dinner on the beach due to the staffs kindness. We try to accomodate all guests, we are sorry this guest did not fully enjoy their stay.
