“Family barn sleep 6 - fantastic holiday 5* does not do it justice, absolutely superb!!”

Having just returned from a week staying in the newly fitted out family barn sleeping 6, I have to let other people know just how good this place this. Which, was absolutely superb.

Having been the first guests to stay in this barn we were a little apprehensive about what to expect, but what can I say it exceeded our expectations above and beyond.
This barn is finished to an extremely high standard, with all brand new appliances, from a Nespresso machine, washer dryer, fully fitted kitchen, very large wet room, WiFi right through to a smart tv.

The owners and all the staff in the shop and estate were all very friendly and could not do enough to help.

We would have no hesitation in recommending finlaystone barns, and hope to return at another time.

“Very friendly”
Reviewed January 15, 2018 for a stay in November 2017

It was a super friendly place, clean and nice surroundings.
The couple who have the barn is very pleasent and have a super friendly dog. Our dog became friends with theirs and they played very well together.

“Great find”
Reviewed October 17, 2017 for a stay in October 2017

the lodge makes a perfect retreat for either a short weekend break (as we did), but is big enough to sustain a week long break without feeling cramped; there is plenty of space to move around. Good kitchen facilities, with a full size fridge and freezer. Very easy access back into Glasgow, or up to Loch Lomond and also offers lovely walking around the estate. The garden café was an unexpected bonus - great cakes and coffee! Really friendly team in the information centre

“Peaceful stay”
Reviewed April 9, 2017 for a stay in April 2017

Ideal accomadation for our week long stay. Everything as expected, well equipped & spotlessly clean. The estate is lovely especially at this time of year, the daffodil's are to be admired. A great Base from which to tour the area.

“Lovely place”
Reviewed March 1, 2017 for a stay in February 2017

The two barns were exactly as advertised, with big comfy king sized beds plus washing machine / dryer and a wetroom. We had a lovely stay, Lidl 5 minutes drive to Port Glasgow and about 20 miles into the city.

Only points to note were that the toilet was leaking in our barn (I understand this was due to be fixed after we left) and the log burners were not as easy to use as we expected (we use ours at home every day and couldn't get the fire to stay in).

A great place to walk around and use as a base for exploring the wider area.

“Peaceful stay in spectacular grounds”

Ideal accommodation which was well equipped and spotlessly clean. The grounds of the estate are truly magnificent.
The estate staff were unobtrusive but friendly and helpful, an ideal mix (and thank you for the strawberry tart!).
I enjoyed my stay very much and the barn provided an ideal base within easy reach of the Clyde coast, the City of Glasgow as well as other places I needed to travel too.
Well done all at Finlaystone, hope to be back soon.

“Quiet converted barn in wonderful grounds”
Reviewed June 16, 2016 for a stay in June 2016

We spent a week here as a base to tour Scotland. The room itself is well equipped with fridge/freezer, washer, oven and the usual other furniture. The grounds and walks around the estate are superb with maps and routes clearly marked out. We stayed with our dog and he loved the walks. Right the minus points...the estate itself is between Langbank and Port Glasgow so leaving means a left turn out(its on a dual carriageway) for a couple of miles before going around a roundabout back past your exit, the nearest pub that took dogs is in Bishopton which again the manoeuvre above is necessary to get there and not within walking distance at all, there is no dedicated space for your car on the estate just a public car park, the outside space is public also so only becomes private after 5pm when everyone has left, the barn itself could do with more pans especially a decent frying pan, the wet room floor gets soaked due to the plug not being quick enough to drain the water, we never got any change of towels and had to wash what we were given, the bedding wasnt changed, we cleaned the room ourselves and the pillows on the bed could do with being changed as they are like rocks. Okay, that might sound bad but it really isn't as many of the above points can be alleviated or ignored but I wanted to mention them as some can be improved. We had a fantastic relaxing time here in general with no real problems as we would leave early on the morning and return after 5pm on the night. We would eat somewhere on the way back to avoid the above manoeuvre and we bought much alcohol to drink outside in peace on the nearby bench. (It was very hot for our week...we were very fortunate). The little things in the barn itself can be improved easily and to be honest the owners have just about got everything right for everyone to have a lovely break. I would recommend staying here for touring of Scotland but if you want to just stay in every day maybe you need to look elsewhere. One more thing, on arrival the meter is read(request it yourself) and you are informed that after use of 100 units you will be charged extra. Granted a 100 units is a lot of usage (we used 44 so not a problem for us) but maybe that should be clearly explained in the advertisements. Overall a very welcome break in a comfortable barn conversion.
