Always wanted to climb Table Mountain and finally did it.What an awesome experience and one that has to be repeated again, perhaps another route up.
We climbed the Platteklip Gauge, the climb is very steap and not eazy.Took about 2hrs to the top and took the Cable car down.

As soon as the weather is clear, go! Ticket queues can be long. You can buy in advance or on your phone whilst in the ticket queue. The cable car is great and not too frightening! Views at the tops are amazing. An absolute must do....

The trip up to table mountain is easy compared to hiking up if you choose to take the cable car. There are queues but they move pretty fast. The view is fantastic up the peak and you could walk on some different trails. Lion’s head could be seen from here and if you are lucky you could see the clouds at your feet!

It is obviously a must do while in cape town.

ADVICE:
- Go early. There are always people wanting to do this!!
- Watch the weather forceast. The best time to go to the top is a clear and not windy day. Wake up early and if the weather is spot on then go. You need it to not be cloudy because that will kill any views that you want to see. And no wind means its a lot safer at the top.
- Book online. We arrived and the line to buy tickets at the gate was soooooo long. We booked on our mobiles and went straight up to the cablecar.
- Take a jacket. The weather at the top can be so much different to the weather at the bottom. And the weather in cape town changes so quickly.
- Wear walking shoes. The surface at the top isnt exactly a paved path. Wear decent walking shoes so you can get around the rocks easily.

I've been to Cape Town a number of times but, schedules have never really afforded the time to make this trip to the top of the mountain.

This visit was a family holiday so was very much on the agenda. Unfortunately, the weather did its best to scupper our plans - rain and mist for the two days we were there.

Thankfully, on our last afternoon the weather cleared and we managed to get up there.

Really worthwhile doing this as the views are spectacular. Can finally tick this off the list, so glad I did this.

Wear appropriate clothing as the weather can change in a heartbeat.

I heard that the next day there were three hour queues to get up there as the weather had cleared.

Book ahead of visit either online or via hotel and this will allow you to skip the worst of the queues and get onto the cable car.
