Emma's Cottage Vineyard
Reviewed 6 June 2012

My husband and I stayed with another couple at Emma's Cottage in March when we attended the CMC Rocks the Hunter. Relative to other accommodation in the area for an event weekend, Emma's Cottage was very well priced. The cottage we clean and modern with a good size bathroom. The kitchen had proper fridge and stovetop as well as a dishwasher which is always a plus!

The covered verandah was a lovely spot to sit with a view over the vineyards. There was also a BBQ. Even though the accommodation was booked out it was still peaceful and private. We didn't eat at the restaurant on site but did buy take away coffee there each morning which was nice.

The event we attended was at Hope Estate which was only a 10min drive away. There was plenty of parking at the accommodation and it was easy to find following the directions on the website.

My only gripe is that the bed was quite uncomfortable. It felt like the mattress needed replacing. But otherwise it was a great stay!

What a great way to stay in the Hunter and such a beautiful setting. We booked the large cottage as we had friends staying and it was a perfect setup and felt really quite homely. To top it off there is the winery to do wine tastings and also Tilly's (family run) for pizza on site - and the pizzas are pretty good! Oh and don't forget to try the brownies, they are fantastic!

We just totally relaxed the minute we got here. Emmas cottage seems to be right in heart of the hunter yet so far away from traffic and crowds. The accommodation was modern and tasteful, exactly as the website shows. Alec and megan and staff were there if we had a question and not when we wanted space. They had just opened theyre pizza cafe a couple of weeks before we stayed so we tried it,(Tilly's) and were delighted! possibly the best pizza i have ever had. The service was friendly and coffee beautiful (I kept wanting another one, but needed to sleep!) The wines are also as good as any we tasted in the hunter. All in all we struggled to think of a better wine holiday and will be back. I would strongly recommend a visit

Emmas Cottage Vineyard formed the backbone for a fantastic weekend in the Hunter Valley. I was the organiser for a group of 3 couples, so I was under pressure to perform. The accommodation was better than we had hoped for and the location was perfect, peace and quiet yet right in the heart of all the Hunter has to offer. The 3 bedroom cottage was better than portrayed on the website and was spotlessly clean and tidy. The furniture and fittings were moden and functional and not overpowering. The last thing we want is clutter. The cottage had exactly what we needed and was basic and functional. It was the real Hunter Valley as you stay right in a working family vineyard with plenty of opportunity to chat with the owners as they are available in the cellar door from 10 till 5. They were friendly and direct and really added to the weekend. We found Emmas cottage to be great value for money and enhanced a great weekend with friends. We will be back.

We booked the 3 bedroomed self contained cottage off this website which is also a winery. From the pictures it looks lovely (although no internal images on this cottage which is 1 of 3 available). When we arrived it looked quite different to how we imagined it to be. It seemed very bare and basic although very clean. It did have a good kitchen but basic and the rooms were clean but again basic. The living area had an awful leather couch that should have been thrown out years ago but a lovely log fire which we used. The owners were very friendly and willing to help with any queries and had wine tasting at the cellar door. They had bought the place about 3 years ago and we felt that the accommodation side of the business was relatively new and therefore accounted for the lack of cosiness that you often get in holiday homes.

Its good for groups wanting to visit the Hunter Valley region for wine tasting as it is fairly central but you do need a car to get anywhere although you can hire taxi easily.

We just felt we had been mislead by the website as it showed the cellar door house rather than the house we actually stayed in.
