really poor but charge $600 - 750 a NIGHT for a 3 bed villa

2.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Jul 13, 2020
We stayed for 3 nights in a 3 bedroom villa.

1. no oven or bbg in 'self-catering' villa. This should be clearly advertised EVERYWHERE. Their response of 'we call it a kitchenette and not a kitchen' is useless. Don't call it 'self-catering' if there is no oven, no bbg, no chopping board, no sharp knives, one pathetic non-stick frying pan. We called reception multiple times for these missing items, were promised they'd be right up and not ONCE did anyone come to the villa to provide these items.

2. Villa are not serviced. No clean towels, no one collects rubbish, there are piles of full black rubbish bags outside all the villas and on the street, disgusting. We called reception to collect our rubbish, again no-one came. No dish washing liquid.

3. We staying in a 3 bedroom villa. Only had 4 dining chairs. We called reception to ask for 2 more dining chairs, never arrived. Had to use filthy outside chairs inside.

4. Villa had 2x tiny 2 person sofas. Nothing like the pictures. 4 people couldn't sit in the lounge, let alone 6.

5. There was food left over from the previous people, packets of half eat chips in the cupboard, biscuits in the bedroom shelf. Gross. How is this Covid clean???

6. Rates are ridiculous for what you get - $600 - $750 a night. NEVER AGAIN. This is more like 2 or 3 star. Go somewhere else.

We had the best time in the Hunter Valley. The Wineries and restaurants were amazing but the Crowne Plaza needs to up its game pronto.

We were extremely disappointed to find someone else’s dirty underwear in the TV cabinet of our villa. When we complained, we were told our cabin would be given a deep clean service but 40 minutes later nobody had arrived. Then we asked again and the only clean we got was our bed made and the underwear removed.
A couple we spoke to at the same hotel also had a half drunk bottle in their fridge and it wasn’t replaced. Food was also found on their seats. Clearly the hotel is claiming they provide a clean service and care utmost for their customers but this has not been demonstrated on our stay. We were not offered anything complimentary. I will never stay here again and would recommend finding elsewhere to stay in the Hunter.

Three bedroom villa - Rooms are worn and grotty - stains on the rock hard lounges and worn carpet. Staying for 4 nights we had to constantly contact housekeeping because not enough tea towels, chux, toilet paper, detergent etc/ basic items to keep the place clean as no service. Housekeeping staff and concierge were responsive and friendly so can only imagine it’s management trying to cut back on essentials that’s the problem. Restaurant is dismal - poor pub food. Eg - Think rubbery pizza base with a minimal amount of topping, calamari with a teaspoon of salad - no excuses in 2020 for such plain cost cutting cuisine. Again we could see the staff run off their feet so think it’s a management problem, A really disappointing experience for the price we paid. Their expectation is that guests are groups out for a boozy weekend splitting the bill so it’s cheaper but we were a family paying the whole amount for everything and didn’t get value. Villa was noisy - very close to the airport so a lot of propeller and helicopter noise plus very old air conditioning units that kept us awake. Wouldn’t recommend or revisit.

Dear Aussiefamily99,

We appreciate you taking the time to provide feedback about our restaurant menu and service – it’s been a challenging time for everyone, and we appreciate your patience while we adjust to the ‘new norm’.

Whilst our menus may not look the same as they did pre COVID-19, we are still committed to providing the same high level of True Hospitality for our guests, and supporting local growers and suppliers. We understand that you felt you did not receive value for money in this case and will provide the feedback to our chefs.

The housekeeping team service the resort villas every 7 days, or upon checkout – so we apologise if this was not communicated clearly to you prior to arrival. We can provide any additional housekeeping villa room servicing from an additional $25 per villa (depending on villa type) which can be arranged via our 24/7 Duty Manager.

Thank you for the positive feedback about our restaurant, housekeeping and concierge teams responding quickly during your stay.

If you would like to discuss your stay further, please don’t hesitate to contact the resort direct.

The hotel is advertised as 4.5 star
This is further from the truth. Very substandard eg toilet flush didn’t work,Stove hot plates didn’t work
No room service unless requested
Breakfast in dining room ordinary we travelled all over the world and to sell this hotel on the web at four star is a joke.

Room tip: This venue is totally overrated and needs a total renovation

Booked pool-access room since it was promoted on the website. Reception Lady (Wish I have name to write) was very nice, very professional. Even got the early check-in and anniversary house drink vouchers. After check-in, realized pool-access door wasn't opening. Visited reception, informed that the pool is closed due to maintenance which is understandable since Covid-19. It was my mistake that I didn't check the website properly but it would have been nicer if there was pop-up alert when I book the room on their website or comments upon checking in. Hotel provided $50 credit for our stay which we used for room service dinner.

Room was clean but little bit old. Loved the bed. It is very comfy :)

Used the lobby bar for few drinks. It was quite busy.

Room service wasn't the best. Took 40min to receive 1 Pizza, 1 Garlic Bread, 1 Pasta. Food wasn't amazing but little under than our expectation.

Gym was good - it could be better if there were AC, Music or TV, or even window access. There was no air flow while I worked out - which wasn't that pleasant.

Checking out was quick and smooth. Overall it was nice stay but wouldn't stay till all the renovation finishes.

Great place to stay, 2 options for dining Red Salt for fine dining , The Brewery for more casual/family dinners (both are really nice food). Cocktail bar in main foyer as well, the Brewery has great beers, ciders and wine. Rooms are modern and clean. Two pools, one for families and one adult only. So if you want have a great weekend away and have it all in the one place this is a great option. Also very close to all the attractions in Pokolbin.
