“We were robbed! And no signs of a break in.....”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 June 2011

My advice would be, don't stay here. We were robbed on Day 6 of our 2 week holiday. Entry appears to have been gained into our room by key, there was no other means of gaining entry, and no damage to our room door, and the 24 hour camera surveillance, keypad entry door, and double locked door, was no deterrant. The room was secure when we left it, no open windows, everything locked up. In fact, no evidence of the break in was found anywhere!! We asked the Management about the 'surveillance footage', and were first told this had been 'checked through but nothing was found'. On request that we viewed it, there were excuses every day, for not being able to see it. The locks were never changed, which suggests that this could happen again if you get our room number, or another one who's key was left outside the building in an unmarked box for at least two days when we returned it to them personally. You won't get support from anyone, except the Reception Staff if this happens to you. It might also be worth checking the crime statistics for the area, as this appears to be happening frequently in Puerto Pollenca and for obvious reasons, the travel industry are not highlighting it to tourists. Knowing what we do now and being left to sort things out for the next 7 days of our holiday, we would never return to this hotel again in the future. Please avoid any heartache and stay somewhere else. It has destroyed our holiday, we have lost some valuable personal items, and now come home to pick up the pieces for our Travel Insurers and Banks. But hey, they might offer you a free meal for your inconvenience!

Room Tip: Book somewhere else!

HOPOSAHOTELS, Manager at Hoposa Pollensamar Apartments, responded to this review, 22 June 2011
Once the guests came to inform us about this inconvenience, we were, and still are, profoundly embarrassed and sorry for this. We, at Pollensamar Apartamentos, had not seen anything like this, and neither in our sister hotels and apartments in the area. It is correct that the Guardia Civil or the management have not found any evidence of break-in the apartment or in the facility and there were no other robbery report for other guests at the building. Even when this has been a very sad but isolated case, we do clarify and recommend to our fellow travelers to put all valuable articles such as passports, cash and jewelry in the safety deposit box that each apartment has, it was very unfortunate that this was not the case and the guests have decided not to use the safety deposit box. In order to assist our guests, the management had escorted and assist them at Guardia Civil to fill the police report, have offered free access to internet and international calls, and complimentary dinner so that they were able to stay for the rest of the week. We are taking more and new measures to assure the relaxation while vacationing of our guests.

We used to love it here but sadly these apartments have not been upgraded for many years and everything is faded, chipped and worn. Yes, as the other review states, do not accept one of the apartments on the 4th floor; they are indeed like caves. Watch too if you are on the third floor because at least one of these apartments was badly flooded and stinks of damp with mould and black marks throughout. I will repeat the message that you have to go to the Hostal Bahia, 800m away, to collect your keys on arrival or if you need to speak to reception staff. They are not quiet - the area is nice and quiet but there is no soundproofing between apartments and some have adjoining doors - bad luck if you are stuck between screaming kids (forget a romantic breakfast/lunch/dinner/drink on your balcony) or under folk who like to rearrange the furniture at night. There is also a constant mechanical/electrical hum all day and night which might keep you awake or drive you nuts.
The linen and towels whilst clean and refreshed are thin and worn and the beds sagging.
It needs some money, not much, spent on it to refresh it and make it more comfortable but having stayed in three different apartmements in the block in one week, we will not be back to an old favourite. The staff in Hostal Bahia and the maintenance man are lovely; cheerful, helpful and get things done; the point is that they should not need to be done in the first place.

We stayed here in September for 5 days. Looking forward to staying in an apartment as shown in the brochure and on the web site. However, we were in one of two apartments on the 4th fllor. It is like being in a cave!!! Right at the top of the building, no window in the bedroom only a velux. When sitting on the balcony all you can see is the wall in front of you and behind you are the air condtioning motors for other apartments! There was never any mention of some apartments being like this. We complained at the Hotel Bahia and were eventually moved for the last 2 nights. The receptionist at the hotel did all she could to help us and seemed embarrased at our plight. The apartments on the other floors are lovely so just make sure you dont get the 4th floor!

We stayed at Pollensamar apartments and were really pleased in general with them. The street they are located on is one row back from beach and Pine Walk and is quiet.
Apartment was clean (cleaned & towels etc changed 3 times a week) with all necessary equipment .
Security good as both external and internal doors had strong locks.

Overall good value for money.

If you want a comfortable, quiet base and don't mind a level walk of about a mile to the harbour and bus station then this is for you. It's a very small block, with no bar, restaurant or entertainment - therefore nice and quiet. The apartments are very clean, very well furnished and decorated, with a well equipped kitchen and several British TV stations. The whole establishment gives a smart appearance. Excellent security also, with a lock and CCTV camera on theouter door and deadlock on each apartment door. Not much of a view from our apartment but the accommodation is only a few yards from the Pine Walk. There are 2 small supermarkets within 200-500 yards. Check-in is at the Hostel Bahia, which is a good 800m down the Pine Walk (bumpy for suitcases) but the service was efficient and friendly. We requested an extra blanket and it arrived within hours. Maid service is every other day and very thorough.
We loved it.

We spent a week here in a one bedroom apartment and loved it. The apartment was clean and fresh and all the important things were present: good beds, strong hot shower, sea view balcony and a cute, well-equipped little kitchen (apartment was cleaned and towels changed every other day). The pool was clean and nice too with sufficient space for residents to share and enjoy. Location is lovely and quiet but close to the beach and a nice little cafe/minimarket.
Now, we may have been lucky - there are 20 apartments all with a sea-facing balcony but some are studios so space would be tighter in them. "The children" arrived towards the end of our holiday so we only had one rude awakening due to inconsiderate parents letting their kids run riot in the stairwell.
One point worth repeating is the fact that you will have to collect your keys from the Hostal Bahia, a good 20 min walk away and if you wish to use the safe in your room it costs €15 per week! Otherwise... go for it if the price is right.

these apartments are set in a quiet street about 800m from the town centre. When we first arrived by coach transfer, we were told by another couple staying there that in order to check in we had to go to another hotel to pick up the keys. I had to leave my partner and 1 year old son standing outside in the midday sun after an 8 hour journey for 45 minutes in order to go & check-in.
When i arrived at the other hotel, i was told that the air conditioning in our apartment was broken and wouldn't be repaired until the following day. They gave us another apartment for the night.
The apartments are a good size and very clean.
Due to the fault with the air conditioning we had to move apartments another 2 times in the first week (not easy with a 1 yr old!).
They compensated us by offering free paella for dinner at the other hotel one night.
Three days before we we due to leave, there was a torrential rain storm and as our apartment was on the top floor as luck would have it, the room flooded. This meant we had to up sticks yet again and move to yet another apartment.
We id enjoy our stay in Puerto Pollensa and definitely would return, but not to the Pollensamar apartments.
